i dont really see microsoft makein it this gen.......i think it will end up in last place do you guys think the 360 can sum how come out on top in 1st over the wii? i think the ps3 will pass the 360 early next year?

Hell no it couldnt beat the Wii, it'll be hard enough for it to keep up with the PS3, and we all know that's not going to happen.

Survival is slightly possible, but MS is all to willing to kill and start a new.

I gained a lot of respect for Microsoft, this generation. Still, Nintendo has been at it for about 3 decades. They know what they're doing. Sony has been super dominant for 2 generations. They know what they're doing, too. The fact that Microsoft has made themselves a viable competitor should be considered a victory, but first place? No way in the world!

What the 360 needs is a gimmick. The ps2 had a gimmick, it played dvds when people were upgrading from vhs. Wii has motion controls. Ps3 has blu-ray. I guess MS could use xbox live as their gimmick but it's an addition 50 dollars from the console purchase. All said gimmicks come with the console so IDK if xbox live would work as the 360's gimmick. Also even if HOME sucks it will still bring with it in game XMB, which imo is the only thing sony's online is lacking vs. xbox live.

I doubt anyone is going to dethrone Nintendo this generation. Out of the entire field they were both the most original and the most conservative. Original in design and concept, but financially conservative in their design. They have ample margin for error. The design of the Wii was smart. The marketing of the Wii was smart. The price of the Wii was smart. With all these smart moves its hard for the competition to overcome unless the novelty on the Wii begins to wear thin. Possible but not very likely.

Now can Microsoft retain its second place position. The answer is yes and they have the capacity to do so. The only question is do they have the will to do what is necessary. They need to continue to focus on their lineup, and do what is required to keep it the best most diverse lineup on the market. That means they need to not only buy exclusives, but the right exclusives. That has been their strength this generation. However if they are less then attentive then Sony may be able to use its own first party strength to compensate.

So the question is whether Microsoft can reclaim the kind of software dominance it possessed last year. That is the most critical factor especially since Sony have a better lineup this year. Microsoft must have an even better lineup this year.

360 will likely be last (DS, Wii, PSP, PS3, 360). The 360 will finish b/t 3rd and last in America and last everywhere else.
