Congratulations on your purchase!

You may not be looking at getting any games right now but at least consider renting a few like Ratchet & Clank or Heavenly Sword if you haven't already played them.

Who knows, you may find something that interests you yet.

@eagleeyes I didn't even consider Microsoft as an option because
a) It doesn't have Blu-ray
b) You have to pay for every god damn thing you do online.
c) I already have an HD capable PC and if I wanted to download movies I have twice the hard-drive space (Plus endless expansion) of a 360 and I am not cornholed into buying it from the Live marketplace (Read: I can get movies cheaper).
d) IMHO all you need this gen to play every game that comes out that is worth and watch every movie that comes out in HD. All you need is a Wii a PS3 and a kick ass PC.

I applaud you're commitment to a game series (that's a lot to spend just to play one game), but I need to correct something:

b)  XBox Live is free for everything but game downloads, watching feature-length movies, and playing online, so software updates, video news, etc. are free.  I spent 18 months on XBox Live before getting a Gold account, which came to $3.85 per month.  Not too expensive.

d) Ooops!  You canceled out your argument in "b".  If you find spending < $4 per month too #$^%@# expensive, then surely you can't be spending the money required to keep your PC kick a**.

In any case, enjoy your PS3.  They appear to be well made and the software library is definitely growing.  Perhaps you will find something beyond GTA that appeals to you.

@crumas2

b) I knew how Xbox live worked and what was free and what wasn't. The fact remains you must pay money to play against other people online, everything else they offer for free is offered free on the internet, or by the other consoles. Microsoft would be retarded to charge for free services like news or god forbid a game fixing patch.

d) I still don't have to pay anything to play online against a much larger segment of the population in thousands more games most of which in them I don't have to listen to 13 year old racists spouting obcenities. I am willing to pay money to keep my PC up to date and able to play the games I want to I just refuse to pay for something that has been free for as long as there has been an internet to play over.

 Don't forget the hardware failures for the full list of anti-Microsoft clichés.

@supposed
If you've been living under a rock for the last year and a half you might not know about that. :)

nice purchase! an awesome game too! i pre-ordered it!

make sure you hook up online and get 16 players goin at once on GTA4

Buying a PS3 for GTA4 is an odd choice, since at least you have the option of DLC with the 360 version...

But buying it for all your other reasons listed is just fine. I kinda want one too for both GTA and MGS...but I don't really have the money for that right now.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

@benKenobi If the PS3 didn't have Blu-ray I probably would have waited until GTA came out on the PC. Technically I don't really have the money either Credit Cards ar a boon and a curse. :(

The 360 can't store media directly on its HDD, a major flaw. You have to keep an external drive hooked up to it at all times to play stuff off of one. It also cannot copy stuff off of a DVD except for music. I really don't like the fact that MS still "owns" your hard drive. Just kind of rubs me the wrong way.

The 360 can do some cool things with Media Center though I will say.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
