I see people bringing the install base.... but when people talk about install base for switch and ps4 (horizon vs zelda, crash, splatoon....) they say it's not as important. People should stick to one or the other.

Amazing sales on both parts, nice too see japan pulling these kind of numbers

Install bases are important but they're far from the single factor to consider. High profile games that release close to a successful system's launch typically benefit from it in the long run. This won't apply to Dragon Quest XI since it isn't an early game, both 3DS and PS4 launched a while ago, both have a larger selection of games to choose from compared to Switch.

Is not a single factor but is one. Especially when you compare and old platform (0s4) versus a new release one (switch) I.e. Horizon vs zelda. People downplayed zelda because it sold less at the beginning.... being practically impossible to sell more simply because there were no more people to sell to.

sounds like you selectively memorized a few fools that follow a certain agenda - feeling bitter about them for months just feels senseless to me

the majority of people I read posts from were very aware that Zelda will do much better in the long run

DQ11 ps4 sold out on amazon and many other stores. They must be really happy with the performance post launch.

I guess you are really off from the point.

Install base of course affect sales.  Most if not all disagreeing on this is on people that think it scales linearly. If Xbox One had 100M userbase would Halo 5 launch be 30M sales (around 5M LTD now on 15M userbase on launch)? Nope. So if someone says 3DS having 3x more userbase contributed to a 10% difference in sales against PS4 version that is a very strong possibility. Can you see the difference between small bump and linear scalability?
