Xbox One X is the last Microsoft console. They are bowing out of the console business and focusing on windows. If any Xbox fans complain about there not being a next gen Xbox, MS will just point to the XB1X, and say that it's the next gen console.

I believe they will be around for a long time to come.

Microsoft is never going to replace Steam on PC.

But you replied to my comment which is asking what does the poster's comment has to do with my original comment and you said everything...?

My original comment suggested nothing about price or when it will release... All I said was if they are making profit on xbox one x, they will probably make another console (xbox one 2) yet that somehow meant that I said MS will make $1000 console and release it right away to jrpg dude and when I asked him what does that have to do with my comment which again, states zero pricing or release date, you said everything.

I see MS doing a bi-annual, tick-tack, strategy. Hardware will be only there as long it can keep players engaged in their subscriptions.

We are seeing the very end of exclusives and their impact in revenue. One needs only to look at NPD sales report and Twitch most popular games.

Soon it will be Sony bleeding money again if they don´t catch the player bases from Destiny, Overwatch, Battlegrounds and many others.

Services are the future.

Hey I never post in the Microsoft discussion. Hi. Anyway

Short term; Xbox X will fail. I.E. It won't change the current trajectory in a major way. No console revision in the same vain as the Xbox X has done that. I expect this console to be a ruse as next generation Xenoblade Xbox starts to come out. I expect a new Xbox gen by the end of 2019. If they don't do it then that is a whole other topic.

Long term: I expect Microsoft to slowly intergrate PC and Xbox together until the difference becomes nellgible. I expect Xbox to be absorbed into Windows.

They get out of the console business. Sell the brand to Sega, who bury it. A ceremonial funeral is held where there are many empty seats. Dreamcast 2 is released, is a spectacular failure, and tanks Sega permanently. Earth is smashed by a comet in late 2021.

No idea why MS have a separate hardware business for video games when they have the most used operating system ever.
They are basically asking people to invest in video games twice considering most people on this planet have a windows based pc.
Their best bet is to leave hardware behind and just focus on pushing software on windows. I really don't see the current team at Xbox being able to turn the tide in Japan and EU. For that tide to turn it seems as thought MS will have to hope Sony drops the ball as that seems like the only way Xbox can compete with PS is if they screw up. If Sony is on it's A games next gen also it's gonna be very painful for MS and Xbox
