Forums - Politics - Trump Wants Transparent Wall

I would say that having an open border is far more imbecilic and absurd then a building wall any day.

The wall will do squat.
People will simply go under it like they do now.
Or go over it like they do now.
Or go by the ocean like they do now.
Or blow a hole through it.

All you are doing is wasting your time, money and resources... And for what?

I mean, didn't your wall get downgraded to a fence in areas by trump? I am an Australian... And we are the world leading experts on building fences, we have the longest fence in the world. It doesn't keep out humans. It only keeps out rabbits. Think about that for a moment please.

What the USA needs to do is make it unattractive for illegal migrants.
Put in measures and red tape that makes it difficult for migrants to work in the USA.
Have better border patrols that turn away migrants and drugs.

Work with Mexico to make it more attractive for their citizens to stay in their own country by providing job opportunities (The USA could also profit from that too!) and stamping out corruption/drug cartels.

Building a wall that will do nothing and burying your head in the sand solves nothing. It never has. Never will.

illegals drain billions from the economy each year. Even if you stopped 20% of them by building a wall it would bring a return on investment in like a year or 2.

The vast majority of illegals actaully pay taxes. About $12 billion/year. Also they pay into SS, money which the majoirty of them will likely never see.

Well, Germany has basically no borders and there are zero illegal mexican immigrants.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

'Most of the drugs come over through unprotected areas of the border'. Not by boat or wall tossing or tunneling under. or visa overstayers or space drone drops. Just build the damn thing. See through, solid or mirrored...

After a successful trip to France, President Trump has announced the wall will consist of 3 million French mimes roaming the border.
"That way it's transparent, NO DRUGS FALL ON U.S. HEADS!" the President announced on Twitter

The wall is a symbol and a statement to the world, a wall without the accompanying policy changes would obviously not be very effective in the 21st century as a barrier.  The wall says that Trump cares about the concerns of the people inside his country before anyone else and that he is not afraid of making bold statements when negotiating with Mexico, when supporting and bolstering the border patrol and taking other measurable actions like the ones that you have mentioned above to curb illegal immigration.  Trump has already cut illegal immigration into the States by 40% and that is without having a wall.  For 30 years the US has had loser politicians who have promised the sky to Americans but then not only failed to deliver but actually sold America out to a bunch of multi-national elites who profit from fake wars and who want global control.  For decades, the US government and media have behaved in a spineless, politically correct, and over-appeasing manner when interacting the rest of the world and the wall is a statement of that trend being reversed.

You might think that the wall is a waste of money, but never under-estimate the power of a symbol both to rally the people at home as well as a message to the world at large.

Something something 'hurr durr leeberals are triggered' something something 20 SJW's somehow worse than Hitler something something Trump (the billionaire) is somehow standing up to the elite by being bought by the elite

And that's the mentality of a Trump supporter. Can't really reason with brick walls.

Trump would've stopped the Dakota pipeline, not given the military $500 billion, and wouldn't cut many government agencies if he truly cared about us.

Nice to see that the wall will let people know we're assholes who don't know how to spend our money properly.

I give you his own words.

One of the things with the wall is you need transparency. You have to be able to see through it. In other words, if you can’t see through that wall — so it could be a steel wall with openings, but you have to have openings because you have to see what’s on the other side of the wall.

And I’ll give you an example. As horrible as it sounds, when they throw the large sacks of drugs over, and if you have people on the other side of the wall, you don’t see them — they hit you on the head with 60 pounds of stuff? It’s over. As crazy as that sounds, you need transparency through that wall.

Dude you twisted what Donald Trump said. That is not the full quote, when you take things out of context it will from time to time look dumb. My guess is you are a Socialliberal out to get Trump that's why you took it out of context.

Here is the full quote

Question: You were joking about solar, right?
Trump: No, not joking, no. There is a chance that we can do a solar wall. We have major companies looking at that. Look, there's no better place for solar than the Mexico border -- the southern border. And there is a very good chance we can do a solar wall, which would actually look good. But there is a very good chance we could do a solar wall.

It's not. It is a Statement and a Symbol directly from the USA to Mexico... And that is all.

The world couldn't care less. I'm an Australian. I am a part of that "world".

Trump only cares about himself. He always big notes himself. Always talks about himself. Always talks about how good he is. He is selfish, it's sad that there are a subset of people that genuinely can't see that, it literally baffles me.

If he genuinely cared about the "concerns of the people" - He wouldn't be backtracking on mandates that he promised during his campaign. Like... You know... Downgrading the wall to a mere fence in areas.

That is just evidence that you don't need to waste billions on a useless wall.

Er. Trump is one of those "multi-national" elites.

I do have to agree with this one. Your Media is all over the shop and could do with some new regulations to make it better, but remember... Freedom of the press is also a good thing. - You take the good with the bad in a free country.
However, Political Correctness is actually a good thing by the way, in small amounts of moderation, it's when it gets pushed to far that it becomes a bad thing.

It's not what I think. It is literally a waste of money.

It will not stop people going under the wall.
It will not stop people going over the wall.
It will not stop people going around the wall.
It will not even be a wall that covers your entire border, it will be a "fence" in areas.

Trump has been pretty comical to watch from the outside, the USA used to be a highly respected country, in-fact the world used to look up to you in the 60's and 70's as you set examples for other nations to aspire towards. That is now no longer the case... The world is instead starting to look towards China, we are seeing it economically and slowly politically.

But if you think the wall is anything but a farce... Well. I don't think I could convince you of anything.
