Exactly, it boggles me how some only care about the basic points of the story on a show like this.

It's not the spoilers that fazed me, I guess I'm just too tired of the whole thing at this point. I've been following ASOIAF for over a decade. Most of the mysteries readers have mused about for many years have already been given answers by the TV series. We are left with arguably the weakest part of the story - the fantasy-heavy invasions of the Others and Daenerys. Props to D&D for giving it a closure, though, since the story obviously ballooned out of Martin's capabilities to bring it to a reasonable conclusion.

Not to mention that, as the series and books move on, its quirks, flaws and literary tools become more evident and it's easier to guess how the plot will unveil, who has plot armor and who is going to die. For instance, despite the fame of ASOIAF on this issue, POV characters on the books very rarely die; none of the 16 main ones actually ever died besides the Stark parents.

Possibly why it's taking so long for Martin to finish the books.

ASOIAF really blew out of proportion. Martin did include too many characters and too many sub-stories instead of sticking with the main one.

Anyone know who the dead girl and father were supposed to be? The Hound seemed to know them but I can't recall who they might be?

Also, how is there no one at all on Dragonstone? Stannis didn't ride out with all the women, elderly and children, where are they?

They most likely left because there was no king and Baratheon house is officially dead, and no on knows about Gendry's true identity except Melisandre shame that he didn't have a bigger role in show. Also the Island is tiny and has no resources quote by Stannis "The island itself was and is nothing. It had no gold or gems to lure Valyrian nobility, all it has is rock."

still doesnt make sense why the Lannisters didnt take the castle, its incredibly important for defending Kings Landing from the east.

Because Joffrey was too busy torturing animals, Tommen flirting with the High Sparrow and Cersei drinking wine and blowing shit up. None of them are military tacticians - they probably saw no interest in taking Dragonstone since Stannis was dead. Tywin warned them - ''soon enough she [Daenerys] will be turning her eyes on Westeros'' and no one listened.

If the story takes the logical route soon Cercei will have Randyll Tarly (Tyrell, but hates Tyrell woman will proberbly defect) Euron Greyjoy and Jamie Lanniser as commanders im quite certain those 3 are by a landslide the best you could ask for Randyll Tarly is the mastermind of Westeros and even when Robb, Tywin and Stannis where still alive you would be best to let him lead your army.

Its not in military "mind" Cercei will lose I think

Cersei knows shit about war. But she knows how to rally people to her cause and take advantage of situations. If you watch closely the preview for S07E02 on the HBO Youtube Channel, you can see that Cersei is holding court and Randyll Tarly is present in the Throne room (which makes you very right in your predictions).

I'm not convinced Jon's death will be handled the same way.  It seemed "too easy" given the price Catelyn paid to come back from death.  I get how it fits with the Azor Ahai mythos, but I cannot help but think it will leave a mark changing Jon.

Does anybody think that Gendry could possibly be the Third Targaryen that seems to be what a lot of people are talking about (third Targaryen) I just find his small story arc so strange. If you dig deep enough and if he is Roberts son then he DOES have Targaryen in him as Rhaelle married Ormund Baratheon – Robert Baratheon’s grandfather. it seemed as if he was going to have a big part to play. Ned stark thought something of him, Melisandre saw him as special, he escaped the sacrifice all thanks to Davos then he's tossed into a boat and told to row and that's it.
It all just seems to be a bit pointless and a waste if he never makes a return. It's also been said the actor that plays him had been seen on set in Northern Ireland, Spain and Iceland.

I'm intrigued as the whether An Ice Dragon actually exists, there's been some vague references to ice dragons but it's sort of not meant to be took serious as they really are vague. But it would be Fking awesome if the writers just stunned everybody and had the whitewalkers release an Ice Dragon to battle the fire dragons.

Or perhaps, one of the dragons gets killed and raised from the dead as an ice dragon...

thats why the shows writing has been so much worse since they split from the books, people stop making logical decisions.

in the books even though Cersei is batshit crazy she still sees the value in Dragonstone and sends the Redwyne Fleet along with a few thousand soldiers to take the castle.
