You understand it correctly

Don't get me wrong as I love Bluray.   I have 3 players including my 2 PS3's.    Just curious how you get that Snow White is Bluray exclusive.   I thought that the only way you could purchase it was as a DVD/Bluray combo.    Was I looking at the ads wrong?

Its listed as a Blu-ray title,  you just get the DVD and Digital Copy with it.   Its only exlcusive because the re-release was Bluray only,  they did not re-release the DVD version.

Here are the numbers for week ending 10/18/09

Blu-ray had another pretty strong week pulling in a ratio of 13:87.   Blu-ray revenue was up 81.65% YoY,  while DVD was down 7.25% YoY.  Even the strong week from Blu-ray couldnt keep Total Media Revenue from being down 0.87%.  Not alot but still down.   Notable release last year this week was, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

All other graphs will be added when available.

Here are the numbers for week ending

Well it was big numbers all around this week, all because of a little movie called Transformers 2.  While I expected the Blu-ray numbers to be better, they are still pretty good.

Bluray Ratio for the week was 16:84.   Blu-ray had a great week being up 184.9% YoY.  DVD had a good week being up 24%, and Total Media Revenue was also up 35.9%.   There were no Notable releases this week last year,  the new Indiana Jones movie released a year + 1 week ago.

I dont ever see bd becoming standard. DVD is still too strong and more people prefer to rent than buy nowadays. bd players are a waste of money when Netflix already can broadcast in HD for no additional cost.

Netflix is not TrueHD,  which is what Blu-ray can offer.  Plus Blu-ray players are now under $100,  and some have the ability to stream Netflix as well.   The Netflix subscription itself is an additional cost, not to mention you need something to stream it to the TV.

Does NetFix even broadcast in ordinary 720p? As a European I do not know, but I do know that for fast streaming over most Internet connections  will mean heavy comprimises, artifacts. Sure a 4GB(I'm guessing this number) MPEG4/WMV compressed 720p video looks better than a 480p MPEG2 compressed video, but the jump to Blu-Ray is quite something else.

However this is a moot point, where Blu-Ray really will be needed is when 3D films hit the home cinemas. :D
