Downgraded? You'll place where you place, then you get a SR gain buff for around 10 games after placements to get you into your right spot and start your climb from there.
If you don't do your placements this season you are guarenteed to miss out on at least 400 competitive points if you would at least hit gold like... that's a given pretty much.

Well it wont be over soon but if the season was ending it would be 10 games for 400 competitive points, win or lose really, if I wasn't playing overwatch I would still check in to do placements just for the competitive points each season.

I got to platinum this season (PS4) then went on a losing streak but I'm happy with things so far. This new character though... looks a bit silly, might be fun. The moon map was crap. Still think it takes too long for them to release new characters if they want it to be an ongoing game.

With my breakdown of champ use :D there wasn't much thought needed about who got the "gun" haha.

Junkrat's gun is pretty lovely looking in Gold and he is just so much fun to play, crazy as all hell it's clear why he is missing limbs.
When it comes to Mercy I just love her style of play, hiding from sight and keeping your bros alive to murder their team, and if shit goes bad, ress everyone and get hated for it :D

Competitive forced me to be a Mercy main. Now I insta pick her or Zarya.
