Forums - Nintendo - Kimishima approval rating at ridiculous 97%

Is Kimishima a good president for Nintendo's success?

Yes 140 92.11%

No 12 7.89%

Total:152

Switch is the last system Iwata was involved in so he still get's some credit. That said Kim has a very financial mind so he knows what makes money and warned them not to do Wii U.

I really like Kimishima, but these kind of very high percentage of votes are nothing extraordinary, most shareholders just vote as the Board of Directors suggest, or simply delegate the vote to the Board itself.

Only enterprises which are struggling or involved in some kind of scandal show low approval ratings for their BD.

As an example, after the News Corporation Scandals of 2011, Murdoch received 35% of shareholders votes against him (that's pretty high considering that he controls 39% of the shares): http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/mediatechnologyandtelecoms/media/9614613/News-Corp-board-survives-protest-vote.html

Is that ridiculous? How high are approval ratings for CEOs in Japanese companies typically?

Getting over 80% is hard with the majority of companies in the world especially with large companies, remember many share holders aren't really people
involved or informed on the industry the company operates in.

I feel like we're talking about a politician now I wish it said how they actually determined the vote.

Kimmy should be given credit too. Since he took over Nintendo, the company has become quite effective with its mobile offering, use of Nintendo Directs, marketing and advertising. On the other hand, supplying and manufacturing...

Let's take a step back on the supplying and manufacturing thing for now since we know what has happened recently that has affected production of the Nintendo Switch.

Im not sure how much of a part he plays in western advertising. I also think directs were better with Iwata than with Kimishima.
