Forums - Nintendo - This is a Direct-heavy year for Nintendo!

I was thinking about the Splatoon Direct coming on Thursday when I realized: we got A LOT of Directs from Nintendo this year!

1-Fire Emblem Direct, only a few days after the Nintendo Switch presentation;

2-Nindies Direct only a few days before the Switch launch;

3- April 12th, first regular Nintendo Direct following the announcement of the Nintendo Switch, here we saw the announcement of Min Min and Salmon Run;

4-ARMS Direct on May 17th, Introduction to 3 new characters and Splatoon 2's story mode;

5-Pokémon Direct, announcement of Pokkén Tournament DX, USUM and G/C VC;

5.5-Nintendo Spotlight;

6-Splatoon 2 Direct, coming in a few days.

These are A LOT of Directs, especially since we're barely over half the year, how many other Directs do you expect from here on out until the end of the year ? Do you think spreading infromations across multiple Directs like this is for the better or did you prefer the classic Directs that were longer and packed a lot more content ? Do you like Koizumi as the host of the regular Directs ?

As you can see only 5 out of the 17 Indie titles announced for Switch in the Direct released in the past 4 months and, while only one of the other 12 was delayed, many of the developers behind them seems be quite silent about their projects

ND's are a powerful marketing tool which the new President has taken full advantage of so it's no surprise, rather than rely on industry events for announcements and news they simply have NDs.

I think its due to the Switch launch.They need to sell the system concept and games to the public, and what better way than directs?

Next year they will probably tone it down a bit, since the hard work would have already been done.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Communication is never a bad thing.

Yeah, and it's great! I really want another Nindies or regular Direct though.

I'm super excited for Stardew Valley, Flipping Death and Runner 3!

Also Shakedown Hawaii looks fun. Video Games Awesome played a prototype on the Switch with the developer and it looks pretty....well...awesome.

Indeeds! We can probably expect a Mario Rabbids Direct or a general Direct with it as the main headline next month.

Actually, I feel this is starting to become the norm for Nintendo. Whenever a new Nintendo game is set to launch, info in the form of directs come out beforehand. And then there's just updates on upcoming games, which are also really great.

I really like the this set up Nintendo has.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. Though I still do like having a few big Directs a year.
