So Square continues to completely and utterly drop the ball on Dragon Quest XI.

We should keep a running tally of mid to big budget games built on engines NOT natively supported on Switch that beat Dragon Quest XI to the punch :P

So far there's Doom, Wolfenstein 2, Valkyria Chronicles 4. There's probably more I can't bother to think of.

Yeah DQ11 on Switch is quite the clusterfuck at this point, but I guess this is the same company that took 10 damn years to make the game that finally came out as FF15.

The Switch version of Captain Toad removes the levels from Mario 3D World along with basically all references to that game

I'm not sure why we're getting a port of this game in the first place. Was this really in high demand?

Maybe if they were gonna release a port of 3D World, and then added this on as a bonus. I don't really understand trying to repackage this game on it's own though.

Just beat Octo Expansion.

Thoughts: HOLY SHIT!!

Did you get all the mem cakes and go back to Central Station?

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

To fill the gap between Mario Tennis Aces and Smash Bros. Ultimate?

Probably something like that but it's out before even Octopath.  And June and July have plenty of games soooo yeah, this one is weird.

"What they will tell us, repeatedly, is that Ultimate is a brand new game created specifically for Switch, but there's no denying it's similarity to the series' last incarnation. From menus to visuals, this is an iteration on the Wii U version in particular. It's not a huge problem. As ever, Switch's versatility adds value by itself. But those looking for something truly different won't find it here."

Except that we still have seen nothing about the menu yet and modes that come with it ...

Ignore it. It's click bait. They know by saying that they will get hundreds of people arguing in the comments over whether its a port or not. That's what they want.

Mate, you can click on the video and see for yourself. Does the comments section of that video look like it's packed with people arguing about a port?
Did they use a "click bait" title to even start something like that?

Not yet, but I heard about it because I usually don't care much for post-game spoilers. I think it'll take me a while to get there, but I'm definitely gonna do it.

Seriously though, can we stop this shitty debate about "it's a port" or whatever? It's so fucking pointless it actually hurts, and it's also fucking wrong. The game was built on top of Smash 4, that has been confirmed by Sakurai, if that constitutes it as a port in someone's view then great, call it a god damn port and stop annoying everyone else. It has largely improved graphics, new music, new stages, new characters, revamped moves for nearly every character (and some featuring major moveset changes), and the core mechanics and physics have been dramatically altered - such as the way knockback works, how the whole gameplay is faster, how rage has been altered, or even how explosions as a whole have had their properties altered and now all work similarly to Link's new Remote Bombs. And the menus, as if that was supposed to make any difference, are absolutely nothing alike, you'd almost literally need to be blind not to see that.

I remember there being a discussion a few weeks ago about whether or not sheer ignorance should be ban-worthy. I have to say you're really treading that line, Shaunodon.

Ok let's reel in the personal attacks there buddy.

But I will say the whole "x YouTube channel agrees with me so I'm right" approach will go nowhere.  We'll just have a couple pages of videos split evenly between both sides and be right where we started.

I say, if you are unconvinced it's not a port, wait for further info.
