Forums - Gaming - Sony: MS "punched themselves out of the fight"

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=186265

PS3's competition has already fired off its big guns and "may have punched themselves out of the fight", says Scott Steinburg, marketing big man at Sony.

A lot has been said of 2008 belonging to PS3 - recent sales have supported the theory - and Steinburg is confident that while PS3 still has many of its best cards to play, the competition has already blown its "big assets".

"Our competition has already leveraged all their big assets in the first couple of years and may have punched themselves out of the fight," he told GamePro.

He talked up the Blu-ray victory and upcoming titles as PS3's key advantages going forward.

"I think [the Blu-ray win] is a huge momentum builder for us and I think it is part of why we believe 2008 is going to be a monster year for the PS3," he said.

"When you incorporate games like Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, and Resistance 2...there will a great mixture of new IP and proven PlayStation brands," added Steinburg.

On another note, he also teased about the likelihood of music and movie downloads on PS3 soon. "We have entertainment leverage and that means music and movies. No other company has that ability or those assets. The PS3 is the hub....you can probably connect the dots. Stay tuned!"

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Is he only talking about MS or about Nintendo as well. The article sounds like he is talking about both Nintendo and MS but the headline says MS. If he is also talking about Wii then maybe he should wait until after E3.

Wow those words would have had more punch to them if he had he not used the words "may have". But I guess this is coming from Sony's VP of marketing so it must be true.

We should believe their claims though because like their claim of not paying for exclusives, it has to be true.  I mean doesn't it make sense to you that a FPS like Haze had it's PC and 360 versions cut late in development and the PS3 version kept?  Especially at a time when the PS3 was getting hammered in sales by the 360?  I mean if it was your money on the line and Sony wasn't paying for the exclusive in some way wouldn't you agree to such a decision?

Until the hard facts are publicly available, I guess we can assume Free Radical likes the PS3. All that matters is that, as a PS3 owner, it feels good to have an exclusive available for my purchase. Doesn't mean I'll play it, though. That would only add salt to my friends' wounds who have 360s and want to play it. :P

So... How is Nintendo down? I mean, the article has the typical twist in it, meaning that the competition Sony is talking about, is the "HD-market", and the other common twist is, that Sony talks about "the Playstation family" and compares it to to Wii and 360.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

All different articles that would have been more than likely posted through out the day.  Just getting a head start is all.  If you don't like it then report it.
