Is this a joke Why would Mr Miyamoto, (who owns most of the Nintendo IPs and is in charge of Nintendo EAD Tokyo) want to port his games to rival consoles? that doesnt make sense.

Amusingly, back in the early 1980s, the idea of companies porting games to rival consoles didn't surprise anybody. Coleco and Mattel both were in the habit of releasing their games on both their own systems (Colecovision and Intellivision) and on their competitors' systems (each others' systems and Atari 2600). They also did something that you could never get away with nowadays: they made Atari 2600 add-ons for their systems, even though the 2600 was still actively competing with them. The reason they pulled it off was because the 2600 was built from off-the-shelf parts; nothing proprietary, meaning anybody could make a 2600 if they knew how.

This argument is not a realistic one. It's like saying that BMW produces a Mercedes car or the American Vice President is from the Russian political scene or Coca Cola comes out with a new soft drink called "Pepsi Fun".

After the CD-I fiasco, is it not surprising that Nintendo does not let others use its characters.
