Even if one person were to purchase it, I still can't see that happening without the community funding it through crowdfunding. But a lot of private ventures are crowdfunded nevertheless, so that's not the most unreasonable thing to happen. Just depends on if people are willing to put up money for someone to buy the site with the intent of making more money off of it.
