It's not part of the main series' universe so I don't see what the problem is. The game looks interesting in and of itself.

It looks better than most western or japanese RPGs, graphics and gameplay. At least it has some strategy gameplay and plays therefor very different, just because the first one had even a larger strategy aspect doesnt change the fact that most rpgs play the same.
