If you don't believe me about the Blu sales, look at the rising number of Blu movie sales. And I don't have numbers, the PS3 is the best value. I would be hard pressed to see data that states folks are buying PS3s and tons of games.

 Actually I looked at the software sales for each week, and I saw that there was a pretty consistent ratio of 1.5 to 1, software sales for 360 to PS3, which goes along well with the install base ratio of the two.  This ratio only seemed to show a drastic change based on new releases for one or the other console.

i was speaking in comparison to others and america, so that doesn't really prove his point.

When his point was that the ps3 sells little software, so it must be used as Blu-Ray instead, it's not very wise to say something like "it sells next to zero software" in your rebuttal.  :P

Well, the install base is more like 1.6:1, so if your numbers are correct, then the ps3 is actually selling software at a better numbers than the 360.

it sells next to zero software in comparison to others and america because the install base is so low, its quite simple.

the 360 has only sold 600k in japan and it also sells next to zero software in comparison to others and america as well.

I didn't do actual calculation, just did the math in my head and found the normal Software ratio to be near 1.5, it could've been 1.6 or near that, but I just wanted to see if the 2-1 claim was true. If you'd be interested then I can work on it a bit later and see what I come up with.

That's not a fair comparison, because the 360 has a larger install base than the ps3 (~1.6:1), and a much larger library of games to choose from (well over 2:1).  The fairest comparison to make would be between games released simultaneously on both platforms, the most recent being DMC4, Burnout Paradise, Army of Two, etc.


LOL...  DMC is one of the cornerstone PS franchises...  It should be outselling 360 at least 2:1, but barely is doing 1.13:1.

Burnout Paradise ... 360 = 581K, PS3 = 521K.  Outsold PS3 1.1:1

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 ...  360 = 875K, PS3 = 299K.  Outsold PS3 2.9:1

Army of Two ... 360 = 564K, PS3 = 384K.  Outsold PS3 1.4:1

Dark Sector ... 360 = 80K, PS3 = 29K .  Outsold PS3 2.75:1

Call of Duty 4 = 360 = 5.4M, PS3 = 2.7M.  Outsold PS3 2:1

Rock Band ... 360 = 1.1M, PS3 = 436K.  Outsold PS3 2.5:1

Turning Point ... 360 = 146K, PS3 = 86K.  Outsold PS3 1.6:1

There are a few exceptions, but in general 360 titles sell better on 360 by a wide margin.  Burnout Paradise and DMC4 are the only ones where it is really close.
