Forums - Gaming - PS3 vs 360 in 2008

I'm think the 360 simply because I think a lot of the big PS3 games will be delayed into 2009 (Final Fantasy 13, Gran Turismo 5). Some of their other titles are extremely similar as well (Killzone 2 and RFOM 2). I think MGS4 and LittleBigPlanet are really the only standout titles and even they have possible problems on the PS3 platform. LittleBigPlanet seems pretty casual but the price of the PS3 might be just a little too high for the title to really make an impact. And Metal Gear Solid 4 will probably do pretty well but it remains to be seen how many fans it'll pull in that don't already own a PS3.

Well I explained my reasoning why.

Do you really think Killzone 2, RFoM2, and Haze are going to attract different audiences?  Add in the fact that a large part of the potential audiences for those games already own a 360 and are playing on Live (part of the reason why Vegas 2 sales on the 360 are so far ahead of the PS3's for example) and it has to make a person wonder if they're reasons enough to get a person to leave Live and their friends and spend hundreds of dollars to play them?

doesn't look bad at all

Except for the fact that over 30+ of the games can be bought on PC?

You act like that's a minus fo the 360, when in actuality it's a plus. The PC and 360 trade off many potential exclusives. Sure it is harder to define each platform, but all a gamer will see is more games to play on their platform. The point is that none of those games, whether being on the 360, PC, DS, PSP, Wii, Genesis, Atari 2600, or Amiga, are still not seeing the light of day on the PS3, and the only minus I see is for PS3 owners there. If tomorrow No More Heroes was revealed to be ported to the 360, sure you could say it's not an exclusive because the Wii has it, but the PS3 owner still isn't playing with Travis Touchdown. It's a loss of another game to PS3 owners. In a direct comparison of PS3 to 360, like this post is, it doesn't matter whether every 360 game is showing up on another platform as it's still not on the PS3. Who loses? The PS3 owner.

As a Sony owner, I have to say, man, that's a cheap shot.

Trust me, I don't agree with legend for a second, but I won't low ball him like that.

Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

360, who thinks the ps3, needs another hit on the head

PS3 will (and is) outsell 260 this year...

360 and PS3 both have quality exclusive games coming out according to Gamestop's web site. Depends what you like...

For RPGs its the 360's Too Human and Fable 2 vs. Valkyria Chronicles and FF XIII. If you are into trying new types of RPGs, 360 will be the place to get your fix. For tried and tested franchises, PS3.

For Action / Shooters it 360's Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead, Splinter Cell Conviction, and possibly Alan Wake and Huxley vs. MGS4, Resistance 2, and possibly Killzone 2. Don't know which way to go in this category... But, PS3 has an lead from what has been shown.

For Strategy its 360's Halo Wars and World in Conflict vs. Nothing exclusive for the PS3... No doubt, 360 is the winner...

Then, for simulation it is LittleBigPlanet vs. nothing exclusive for 360... No doubt PS3 is the winner...

For racing it is PS3's Motorstorm 2, GT5 Prologue, and possibly GT5 vs. Nothing exclusive for 360... No doubt PS3 is the winner...

For platformers its 360's Banjo 3 vs. Nothing for PS3... No doubt 360 is the winner...

For fighting games its 360's the younger Ninja Gaiden II vs. PS3's tried and tested formula of Tekken 6... Probably a saw off between the consoles...

So what's your point?  Not everyone has a gaming PC and some people might just want a console instead.  There are many console games that won't be on PC and it's kind of ridiculous to say "Well buy a PS3 AND a PC" when they might only want to spend under $400 to begin with.

I'm not chocked by legend's opinion at all, but he always backs up his claims.
he's one of few true 360 fans left in this site.

Do you really think FF XIII will be released in North America and Europe this year?
