Spencer: Xbox One X Most Powerful Console By Wide Margin; We Don’t Hold Back Content from Other Platforms
Head of Xbox division Phil Spencer was just featured in a big interview with Eurogamer from E3 2017. Among various topics, he took a pretty clear stab at Sony’s marketing deals that purposely hold back content from other platforms, such as Destiny and its sequel for instance.
I don’t know what deals get written. I’ve been pretty open about, I’m not a fan of doing deals that hold back specific pieces of content from other platforms. You don’t see that in the deals we’ve done with Assassin’s and Shadow. We’ll have a marketing deal on those, but I don’t say, hey, I need some kind of Strike or skin somebody else can’t play.

Please click on the link above for more details, but basically Phil Spencer is saying that Xbox does not hold back content from gamers like others do. I pretty sure that is a shot at Playstation. Really Phil? I'm still waiting on Tales of Vesperia for PS3. The best looking Tales game ever imo. It came out for PS3 in Japan only. It is only available for 360 in America. Xbox held that back. What about Rise of the Tomb Raider? PS4 gamers had to wait a year. Playstation is what made Tomb Raider a success. That wasn't fair. What about the many deals that they had with Call of Duty in the past? What about Sunset Overdrive? What about Titanfall?
On to the XB1X being by far the most powerful console. OK, it is moderately more powerful than PS4 Pro, but not leagues like Phil is talking. He said PS4 Pro is competing with XB1S, not XB1X in another recent story. That is a big insult to PS4 Pro, because the regular PS4 is more powerful than XB1S. The Pro is much more powerful than the S. There is no competition there.
What happening to the nice Phil Spencer that just wanted to get along? I had a hard time buying that 2 years ago, but now I find it impossible to believe. It is a console war. Unless they promote their systems, their systems are likely to die. Phil knows this. And I respect that. What I don't respect is the fake act. IMO, he is showing his true colors now. What do you guys think?
