Let's see how well within reach it is for the Switch.

It's really not hard to see. It has some nice aspects, some cool particle effects, but on the whole it's nice but nothing amazing.

I would like to see what an actual developer, let's say Capcom for example, has to say about it. Preferably in form of a port or the lack thereof.

No developer ever likes to talk about their game's ability to fit on x, y, or z honestly.  It's only going to stir up ire and demand.

Digital Foundry may comment on it.

WTF was this?? It felt off for some reason, hopefully it's still awesome

By the time this game is released the PS/XB userbase will be 100+ million and the PC in the hundreds of millions.  Seems like a cool time to tap that market.

60.4m (PS4) + 29.6m (XB1) = 90m

64.6m (3DS) + 15.5m (Vita) + 3.5m (NS) = 85.6m

90m < 85.6m?

Both of you are joking, right?

Main market is in Japan. Now let's do the sum:

23m vs 5m

Not even close.

Yeah, and they're trying to expand to outside Japan, hence the Xbox release. So your math is horseshit.

The mere existence or non-existence as well as the timeliness of a port is all I need to know their stance.

Looks great. It also looks like it should be able to run on the Switch, so I wonder what gives.

I stop paying attention to E3 for 30 minutes and then they announce this. Well it looks like the rumors of a Monster game on everything not Switch were true. If that rumor is true than this game is for Western Audiences and that Sony paid for the game to be on everything but the Switch.

Things just got interesting. Now I wonder how this will sell and what it will do to the Monster Hunter Brand.

I'd say it's more likely Capcom wanted to tap into the Western market and picked PC/PS4/XB1 for it as that's where most of the userbase will be. They have their own 3ds port for the switch and they'll probably make MH5 for the switch too. If sony paid for this it would have been PS4/PC. It's also PS4 exclusive in Japan which likely means Capcom thought it wasn't worth their while porting it into japanese for the xb1 and pc platforms.

It's so weird to see how down neogaf are on this game compared to here. People are saying it's MH for people who don't want to play MH.

They will continue to downplay until the Capcom live feed on June 20th, then the oooh and ahhh will commence.  Its made by the main MH team so people can catagorize the game how they like, its a proper MH game.

Yes there's no doubt this is a proper MH game. There will be a seperate game called MH5. It will definitely be on the switch. But will they also announce a 3ds version i dunno. They could also relase it on PS4/XB1/PC. Time will tell but for now it's great to see MH back on consoles and taking a big technical leap forwards.

wow!! huge graphical upgrade for MH, the monsters look almost real

did the Switch just lost its biggest 3rd party supporter, and getting an old 3DS port instead?

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Not sure if anyone posted, but they updated on how it's different from "normal" MH.

Apparently the whole world is open and seamless, and players drop in and out of multiplayer with no need to go through that stupid tavern horseshit. "It's a spin off" my ass- this is how MH should be from now on.

Saw the thread title, was excited because the series needed to advance and I could play it on PC. Watched the trailer, and meh. Doesn't look that good. The monsters lack the charm that they have in the main series. Hope MH5 innovates in a better, different way, and they don't use this as an excuse to stick with the PS2-era scope when this relatively bombs (and it will.)
