Forums - Nintendo - Reggie confirms Nintendo Spotlight will be 25 minutes and more news on treehouse

I don't like that the April Direct was like 35 minutes ... and Nintendo's E3 Direct is 25 minutes. Your E3 Direct should be the biggest Direct of the year. Yeah, yeah, Treehouse and all that, but I still don't really like it. It worries me a bit because they're totally going to devote some of that to things like FIFA, Skyrim, NBA2K, and probably Indie games too.

Some random Direct in April shouldn't be longer than your E3 Direct. That said they'll probably show a logo for Metroid Prime 4 and half the people on the forum will fall over themselves. It's sooooooo easy for Nintendo to have a "good E3" it's actually hillarious that often times they don't put in even the barest of bare minimums to ensure it. I'm expecting Mario Odyessy to look incredible.

I don't think its them doing bare minimum. I think that's just how they want to present their games this year. Streaming and live gameplay are things nowadays and the internet is incredibly huge. Instead of using so much money to get a stage floor and present, they've decided years ago that streaming their presentations prerecorded and with little hiccups (ie, the bluetooth interference of the motion controls for Skyward Sword) and interruptions would suffice while transitioning to providing gameplay for fans who want to know and see more of the games announced or yet announced. That's their personal preference and so far it hasn't let them down yet.

Hope 3DS doesn't take up too much of that time.

And I think it's the right approach. Going fast through the games they have in store, and focusing on gameplay later for those interested in the games. Conferences are and will always be dull. I mean, I almost felt asleep watching the MS and EA confrences. Sometimes they're as cringe-worthy as they can be xD.

I mean, isn't this partly what people want when it comes to Nintendo "getting with the times?" Live-streaming gameplay and providing insight while gameplay is shown? No restrictions (except how far the gameplay will go), no CGI, and no bull^%&*. The gameplay is there and it's up to you on whether it'll give you interest in those particular games shown or not.

When is this, what time?

I'm hoping for a quick beginning. Reggie says high in funny way and talks a bit about sales/momentum. A tribute to Iwata since he oversaw the NS design and creation and after 5 minutes max they roll in the games...

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I expect any 3DS reveals/news will be done during Treehouse. Hopefully "a number of reveals and first-looks" translates to more than revealing Mario/Rabbids and a first-look at Zelda DLC and Fire Emblem Switch. I'm expecting Animal Crossing for 2018 and a Smash Deluxe port, but I'm not sure beyond that how much 'new' stuff there'll be for Switch.

I'm expecting Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga remake to be announced for 3DS during Treehouse, and am still hoping (probably in vain) for Link's Awakening 3D to be announced for 3DS.

The treehouse reveals are pretty much garanteed to be 3DS related (Switch having the spotlight... on Spotlight!)
I don't expect anything else than the reveals being, mainly, Indie games.

I expect we'll see gameplay of Mario Odyssey and Mario Rabbids and hopefully a very brief amount of Splatoon 2. Those alone will probably take up half there time though...

I'm not going to watch the Treehouse footage, so I hope all major announcements are included in the Spotlight.
