This rant is pointless. If he hates it, why does he buy it several times? Also, the library is amazing and the device is very comfy.

This reminds me of my love/hate relationship with the Mega Drive/Genesis. Lots of great games on that system that look & sound like ass because they are on that system and not the SNES.
And I can empathize with the OP wanting Switch to take over ASAP. More horsepower & no gimmicks for games to be designed around (well, other than a res bump while docked).
Another perspective (I suppose), it is also sort of like how some people bought the Wii U hardware for its excellent games, and enjoyed the games, but did not like hardware/controller.
Maybe the 3DS had less of a drop from the DS compared to the Wii drop to Wii U user base because the 3DS hardware was more forgiveable than the Wii U's, and was cheaper, and ended up with many more exellent games throughout its life.
Again, just a thought as to how things had changed so much, and so quickly for Nintendo's Fortune. (observing both: how slow 3DS and Wii U adoption was, and how quick Switch adoption is now).
One of many, many, many, many factors of course. Just a thought.

I'm not sure if it was the hardware or what, but 3DS is the console responsible of me starting to dislike handheld gaming. Half of my experience with it has been thinking "this would be much better on a home console" and I have almost no evidence or reasoning to believe most 3DS games are better on 3DS, instead of on WiiU or Switch or whatever. I just get tired of playing on a tiny screen with meh graphics on a handheld whose battery is a joke, and has the 3D gimmick which I've never ever really been fond of.
I, for one, am grateful of all those handheld games remasters that end up in home consoles, as I'd prefer not having to deal with handhelds anymore.
I started disliking 3ds when the better versions of its games released on wii U.
Mk7, dkcr, Mario 3d land, nsmb2 etc became so obsolete when compared to the wii U version.
But I still enjoy playing pokemon, fire emblem Kirby and Zelda. But wii U offered me way better experience.

It's not actually as unusual as you think.
I loved the Original Xbox hardware, it was taking what was best from the PC with it's new-fangled pixel shaders and really managed to shine with even some high-definition games.
But it's library wasn't the best. Outside of Halo and Fable there was really nothing that kept me coming back to the Xbox. And once those games arrived on PC that console started to gather dust, which was a real shame.
I mean, why would I play Halo Combat Evolved with 1.2-ish styled pixel shaders on Xbox when on PC we could have 2.0 shaders, full 60fps and run it in high definition?
Then the Xbox 360 came along. It's stupidly high failure rates resulted in me having to get my console replaced multiple times. But it also had some of my favorite games of that generation, Halo 3, Fable 2, Gears, Kameo, Viva Pinata... Perfect Dark and Banjo sequels had promise. I loved the games, hated the hardware.
Plus that console aged poorly, by the time we got half way through the console generation... I wanted to gouge out my eyes with a spoon and set them on fire. Playstation 3 didn't fare much better either though. Console gamers couldn't see it's limitations on this forum which I found extremely perplexing.
Don't get me started on the Xbox One. Shit hardware. Shit games.

I like my 3DS, but after playing Zelda and Kart on Switch, I hate having to go back to 3DS for FE echoes and Pokemon Ultra Moon
Bet with Intrinsic:
The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
I purchased it for Bravely Default and Pokémon I loved those games but most games felt underwhelming graphically, I am someone who greatly enjoys better visuals in games and the 3DS didn't deliver.
But I did enjoy the experiences I ended up playing on it despite it not being a system designed for someone like me.

I'm still playing on my NDS from time to time :p
I have no issues with more games coming to the 3DS at the moment since that means I don't have to move over to the Switch right away :p

The usual problem with exclusives. If there is only one version of something it's hard to take when those things have obvious flaws. Consumers today are spoiled by choice.
