Forums - Gaming - Sony's Shawn Layton: Switch Is A "Great Success for Nintendo", Sees Sony/Nintendo Co-Existing Fine.

I disagree with the idea that it won't hurt their business. There's no way it's not going to hurt them in Japan. Even if the overall impact, due to population size, is going to be minimal, it's still going to have a negative impact on their business.

But muh console war.

Like PS2 and DS. Nintendo handheld consoles fit well with Sony (and sometimes even Nintendo) home consoles.

I have both and I'm quite happy. 2 very different but satisfying experiences.

4 ≈ One

So far, there really isn't a reason for choosing one over the other.
It actually makes more sense than a XB1+Switch, as there isn't a whole lot MS has to offer anyway.

Best console + Best Handheld? Of course

That's Switch, so where does that leave the PS4?

Were you still hurting yourself when you thought that one up?

Definitely agree with him. Nintendo has decided it was unwise to continue to compete in the home console space, so they played to their strengths. Focused on handheld gaming, but added a play at home function if you wish. Nintendo will be for those wanting to play on the go with a decently powered HH. While Sony will be for gaming at home with a as much power as you can get for a $399 launch price.

I do see myself picking up a Switch, but I can't justify paying more than $200 for one. So, I'll probably have to wait a few years.

I have a Pro and a Switch, so I am one of these Nintenstation players. And yes, I tend to only use my ps4 as my home console and Switch as my handheld.

Playstation+Nintendo has always been a great combo

Damn poor xbox

I now need Phil Spencer to say "Switch is a great companion to our Scorpio".
