Forums - Sales - Switch Software Is Dominating Amazon

Seems less dominating and more.. just there.
Three of the four are: A game that just released, a game released a month ago, and something releasing soon.

With their placements being 4, 7, 12 and 15.

If they were #1 through 4 that would be dominating. As of now one isn't even beating the third gift cards. Zelda and Mario kart were able to do it, SF and Arms so far haven't.

After looking it up myself, my first reaction is, holy cats, PSN cards are actually dominating.  Even the $100 card is in the top 4.  In May?  What are people buying that they need a $100 PSN card?

Besides that, the Switch games seem to be doing well.  No much competition, though, other than the pre-order for Tekken and the Crash pre-order for the end of June.  Heck, the Far Cry 5 pre-order is in the top 15 games and that releases next year.

I suppose Nintendo gamers need something to play after they're done with 1-2-Switch.

For such a small install base (quickly growing) that is very impressive

good for switch, but man those psn cards tho. c-c-c-c-combo breaker.

Call it a slow month, but we all know Super Mario Odyssey will dominate the holidays as well. ;)

Nintendo has the whole year covered, and E3 is yet to come.

Are the PSN cards so high up all the time because it's such a pain in the ass to buy anything on PSN? Last time I tried it wouldn't work, because you had to have your billing information EXACTLY as it is on your credit card bill. Like if you put your apartment as 2B on the bill and 2b on PSN it wouldn't wok. I figured it'd just be easier to buy a digital code on Amazon. Just wondering if that's a widespread thing.

Honestly, right now is a really boring time of the year for the other consoles. Next game that's a must-have for me is Crash Bandicoot and that's still almost a month away.

Tekken 7 is almost out too, plus the giant Q1 backlog for PS4.

No, people don't want to use their CC info, so they opt for the PSN Cards instead.

Hey! Kamiko was a great game! Blaster Master Zero gave me my Mega Man Fix too.

Disgaea 5 is pretty sweet as well, a very nostalgic title for me since Disgaea on DS gave me 644 hours of play.

Arms is coming up soon and then Splatoon 2! I wanna meet Octo Callie.

I'm also expecting a Smash 4 Deluxe with playable Inkling and probably an Arms rep. We already have Little Mac so hopefully it's Min Min or Ribbon Girl or Twintelle.

The basketball game is selling well in the e-shop as is Shovel Knight. I'm very close to picking Shovel Knight up.

Edit: just picked Shovel Knight up...

Argh! Now all my other hobbies are suffering!

Those aren't AAA/$60/retail games, so they don't count as "real" games.

Bring on the fake games then. Because they may not be $60 and yet they're great fun.

And in such a brief window the placement is now, 5, 8, 13, 18. And of the top 20? 10 of them are some kind of PS/XB gift card. With a PS sitting at #10, and nearest switch at #28.

Shame Disgaea has fallen to #59.

Please don't think of this as a deliberate slam against Sony but I think PSN cards doing so well might have something to do, at most in part, with Sony not having the best reputation when it comes to storing personal information.

Sony was once targeted by North Korea itself. Not many corporations can say they've been targeted by a rogue state.

Of course it also helps that PS4 is the best-selling console this gen. That should go without saying.

Speaking of Disgaea, I hope Disgaea 5's sales are good. It's a niche franchise so I don't think it needs to have huge sales to be a success.

Well, I guess it varies a bit by company. EA certainly was actually on Wii, and I suppose Activision was pretty much even between the two. I think with Ass Creed and stuff Ubisoft put more effort into Wii U. Skyrim on Switch is immediately more support than Bethesda has ever offered a Nintendo system.

I mean Wii launched with Twilight Princess and it was a huge hit, then third parties made absolutely no effort to appeal to that audience on Wii. When Wii U launched it was like they took for granted that that audience would be there, but Nintendo did nothing to bring them in. Nintendo fans didn't even buy the Wii U. I waited almost 3 years! Now Nintendo is bringing their base on board right away with Switch and hardly anyone is taking advantage of it.

Not that I think Switch owners would gravitate toward Ass Creed in particular, but I can name a few games coming out soon that I do think have some appeal to the Nintendo base, or in handheld form. Skyrim following Zelda actually seems like a good choice from Bethesda. GTA would sell on anything but I think it would be a worthwhile port. FIFA is a good choice for EA if they make a real game, and the lack of Battlefront makes me shake my head. Star Wars games have traditionally sold well on Nintendo platforms. I think Overwatch would be a smart port. I think Far Cry is a better fit for Nintendo fans than Ass Creed or Watch Dogs.

The system is selling well enough at this point anyway. It's not suffering for lack of Madden or COD.

Activision put several CoD games on Wii, the Skylanders series started on Wii, the Goldeneye remake/reimagining was exclusive for Wii at first (got ported to PS3/360 one or two years later), plus more than a dozen of other games that included experiments with the Tony Hawk franchise among others. That's the thing about the Wii support: Most of it is forgotten because so many games were forgettable and utter trash. Ubisoft wrecked ports of Far Cry and Brothers in Arms on Wii, had passable ports of Prince of Persia, Driver and perhaps Splinter Cell, the Red Steel games, the Raving Rabbids series, lots of shovelware. Bethesda doesn't really apply for the Wii vs. Wii U support comparison, although they did publish at least one garbage game for Wii and nothing for Wii U. I have a hard time thinking of any Western third party that put more effort into Wii U than Wii.

I wouldn't give any Western third party a good grade for the whole body of their work for either Wii or Wii U, but if the question is solely about where was more effort, it would be the Wii because there was some original work in the sea of ports and awfulness.

You reminded me how EA was complaining that their Dead Space wasn't on the Wii, but they forgot to mention that the game had no visibility and stores received promotional material for the game 2 weeks after release !

Didn't take me long to be done with 1-2 Switch, I can tell you that much.
