(Hell, name a single Microsoft console that didn't end a generation with the lowest worldwide sales).
...
but did it an xbox console ever finish a generation anything but last place in sales, which is exactly what i said?

Yes. The original Xbox sold better than the GameCube and the DreamCast. In hardware, in software, in tie ratio and in number of games.
So even in 6th gen they weren't last place.
In 7th gen it is almost a tie between Xbox 360 and PS3 in hardware and software.
In 8th gen the last place for Xbox One isn't even possible anymore with the discontinued Wii U.
In the other 5 console gens Microsoft wasn't last place either. ;)

No. no it did not. and two times out of three it lost by a hefty margin.
as for that biggest library of all home consoles claim, perhaps try using a more reliable list.
Xbox 360:
There are currently 1,205 games on this list
Exclusive = 107 Console exclusive = 80 Multiplatform = 990 Xbox One compatible = 129
PS3:
There are currently 1433 games on this list. Below is an exclusivity breakdown as of August 2016:
Exclusive = 317 Console exclusive = 124 Multiplatform = 989
So yeah.. you'll excuse me if im unimpressed :)

These wiki lists aren't more reliable, they just show other data.
Complete game libraries vs. retail releases.
It's just cherry-picking to ignore any game that wasn't released on a disc.
But if it helps you sleep at night: the PS3 had more retail games than the 360.
