3DS line taking quite the hit now it seems, also; PS4 Pro has an unusually high sales ration in Japan, it has sold pretty poorly in the West according to reports. This is quite surprising to me, to be honest.
We're headed into the boring months now, summer is a snoozefest, Japan isn't any different in that regard.

I wouldn't be surprised if the PS4 Pro/PS4 ratio is about the same worldwide with PS4 Pro being about 20% of PS4 sales.

This could be an odd week, but it's about 30% in Japan for that week.

If the ratio is similar on a global scale, I've been more precise than I thought in my predictions of the 8th gen and even major revisions won't halt a premature peak and decline in overall hardware sales, this is why I shake my head at those who think the 8th gen will somehow stretch into anything remotely close to the 7th gen as a cycle. I think the Scorpio might make an even smaller difference when all is said and done.

Well yes. It really is, considering its over 588k retail and wiiu version is chugging along and its still one of the best sellers.

Your saying that because its zelda, but zelda isnt as strong as you think as a franchise compared to the west. BotW is doing very well. I think many put it around 400k-500k lifetime in japan before launch. With some optimistic saying 600k+. Here we are with zelda doing 12k+ with hardware being limited almost 3 months after release

I remember sales Gaf mocking the Pro in Japan saying it would bomb after the initial launch sales.  How wrong they were. Obviously the japanese do care somewhat for power.

Wrong thread, was going in the global hardware thread.

Nier's 2B's legs are so amazing, I never imagined that it would  be in the top 10 after 3 months from its release

Wtf? Is this week normal? 2 weeks ago Switch was doing above 40k+... Is that a quiet period in Japan?

Yes, the weeks post-Golden Week are the toughest period of the year. I think it was two years ago that a May week hit an all-time low for Media Create hardware sales tracking (MC tracks since ~20 years).

I am not sure if Switch is selling through all of its shipments right now. At 40k a week, that would leave ~30k units on store shelves from the past two weeks. Or maybe Nintendo adjusted the allocations for the individual regions because demand in North America is notably higher right now. 25-30k units per week for Japan still result in a comfortable #1 spot and that's what good PR is about; Nintendo wants to hit it big in the USA too.

Increased Switch production should become visible by July, or more specifically, by the time Splatoon 2 launches.

Increased Switch production was visible in March when they shipped 700k units more than initially planned.

Looks like a slow month for hardware, and Switch stock continues to have shortages in Japan.

more like everywhere....

I hope you're not including AU, UK, Italy and Mexico in the everywhere category. Even the US has the Switch easily available.

Readily available? I seriously hope you aren't trying to say Switch is readily available in the U.K.? If you actually read the article, you will see the ONLY stock available in the U.K. was due to a massive restock today! Most are already sold out and what little are left will be probably sold out in the time it next takes the site to refresh.

So that's 2 of your "theories" debunked, 2 to go!
