great sales for a great game

Don't pretend you are right because you put many points on there since most of them are just bullshit. Some of you want to believe is bad because of pure and stupid pride, that's all. Game was good, get over it. |
Game was not good, get over it.
See how easy that was? At least I've my reasons to not like that downgraded piece of trash. Even somebody who likes the game has to admit most of them are true. I know they are true because I played the game and you know they are true too, get over it. You can't even support yourself because the only things you liked are the graphics and the forced humour and those things don't make a game good. The game was mediocre and compared to the actual RPG Paper Mario's a piece of trash. If you can't realize this, go work at Nintendo. You're a perfect addition to their ego-centered team and Miyamoto's pre-historic gaming philosophy. Don't act surprised if the next Paper Toad will sell and score even lower than CS.

The thing is, neither of you are right. It all comes down to opinions. Some people enjoyed it, and some don't. People can argue until they're blue in the face trying to prove who is 'right', but in the end, it all comes to personal tastes. It's simply another game that not everyone is going to like. It doesn't mean the game is trash, nor that it's perfect either.

Please do not pretend your opinion about Color Splash is a fact just because you played TTYD. I played all of the Paper Mario games, but Color Splash was such a piece of trash that I stopped playing after 10-15h. Yes the presentation is good, the graphics are gorgeous and the music isn't bad, but all of those things don't make a game good. Gameplay is what makes a game good. My problems with CS: - Battles have no point. You waste paint and good cards on weak enemies and gain worse cards back - Battles are slow due to the many steps required for only one attack even with advanced settings on - Hammer upgrades are useless as you can get paint anywhere in the game (somebody at GameXplain easily finished the game without any hammer upgrades) - Story is boring and predictable and has a big plothole: Bowser throws the Stars away while he needs them for the final battle - ToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToadsToads - Boss battles require no skills: only guessing which card to use at the right time. Because of this they are either extremely easy (if you know what card to use) or impossible (if you don't know which card to use) - Puzzles lack patterns. You randomly need to notice rectangular shapes to use cards. Sometimes they work and sometimes not, which doesn't make any sense. Scissor mechanic is dependent on distance and perspective, while some puzzles logically can be solved from multiple perspectives - A severe lack of variety in enemy design. They even use Shy Guys and Koopa's as good AND bad guys! This caused me to jump on good guys and trying to talk with bad guys. Emberassing! - Reason for me to stop playing: the stupid quiz minigame requires you to have the right card in your deck. So even if you know the answer, you can't answer it right. Like this: ''The answer is B!'' - ''Do you have a B-button on your table?'' - ''No'' - ''Then your answer is wrong YOU GET NOTHING!''. I even missed a card when buying from the Shy Guy (which I thought was a bad guy at first).
The first 3 Paper Mario's did everything better than the last two. The sales and reviews prove this. You can't call me a troll for having so many legitimate issues with the downgraded Paper Mario's. |
Thanks for this example of why the "you haven't played the game!" defense is stupid. You've listed some of my criticisms, proving that no, the game wont magically change after playing it, it'll be the same game from previews/hands-on/trailers/etc., thus all my problems with it will remain.

You were one of the defenders trying to say the game is good, don't think I've forgotten! Now that your "but you haven't played the game!" logic is clearly false, you've given up trying to say the game is good against the undeniable reasons otherwise since that was your only way of dismissing them. So instead you bring up another fallacy to try and say the game isn't bad, because no game is bad or good. Ha, no, a game can most certainly be good or bad regardless of personal opinions as people can like or hate anything. It's the reasons for saying one or the other that matter, and in the case of Color Splash there are very legitimate reasons to deem it a bad game.

I say that because at this point I've given up on trying to convince others that the game is better than they think simply because they refuse to accept any positive comments about the game. I know you won't, so there's no point in discussing it anymore. I just accept now that... yeah, not everyone's going to like it. I know I did, and others have shared the same thought. I can see why people wouldn't like it based on their experience on Sticker Star, but I've gone back and played SS and I could only last an hour. I'd like to play more just to get the full feel of the game, but Sticker Star is truly a bad game and I know CS is much improved over that one.

That's interesting, I've said from the start the game has solid presentation, whereas negative comments are frequently dismissed with "you haven't played the game!" But alright, I can respect that. Let's just hope the next Paper Mario game is one we can all agree is great!

I'll respect your opinions as well, even if I don't agree with all of them.

I meant your decision to stop discussing the game, but yeah I'll respect your opinions too even when they're wrong.
It's probably around 900k to 1 million with digital sales included.
