For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

1) Those screenshots are not a good comparison. Double Dash obviously looks a lot sharper than that image, in fact, Double Dash runs on the same resolution as MKWii, so it shouldn't look that much different in that regard.

MK Wii looks worse though. The character models look terrible in my opinion. Have you seen Donkey Kong on a bike? MAN, I think I threw up in my mouth a little... Also, do overuse of bloom is really distracting, everything in the distance looks really blurry, it's almost as bad as an N64 game.

2) Yes, online is appreciated. Sorry for not making that clear, I do love the fact that it's online with 12 players. But you can't deny it could be so much more, it feels (from the looks of it) online mode is more of an after thought than their main focus. That disappoints me.

3) Well, if I'm going to play online, I want to win. Doing tricks makes you faster, so it's pretty important I'm able to do tricks, right? I think it's a terrible decision to restrict it to motion controls only.

4) You're right, my source is IGN. It may be fixed, but the preview was not that long ago, and the game is released this week... I'm afraid it isn't fixed, but who knows.

I'm really not trying to bash this game, but it just looks to me Nintendo didn't invest enough time and resources into this game. It looks unpolished compared to their usual stuff (Brawl, for example).

Sorry bro, I don't think the game is gonna be the end all Mario Kart either, but you can't just make assumptions about a game based on screenshots or a review build.

Go look at the European review(the 8.0 one) and read the retraction they had to post. They thought that the game didn't have 2 player Grand Prix mode, but it actually did. It's about halfway down on the last page.

The game does have better graphics than Double Dash, and I would assume runs in 16:9 480p 60fps. The euro IGN guys even say the graphics look way better than they intially expected, go check out their preview.

Nobody knows how the online mode will work.

This Microsoft dude said it best:

...the online behavior of our customers is dramatically reducing our sales, and continues to stunt the growth of our industry. Non-gamers simply don't love games enough to put up with the crap they get online. The reason they would consider playing online is to have fun with other people — and right now, playing games online with strangers rarely delivers that for anyone outside the hardcore demographic.

I play Mario Kart for single player and parties, and sometimes with my little brother, so I won't get online, but I respect those who want to do so.

Nintendo says that the tricks can't be performed on a regular controller, but I hear that you can actually do them by pressing the directional pad in the air. That might be in the final game. However, even if its not, it's not a big enough problem to deduct points from the game, in fact, it's actually a fanboy talking point that Wii bashers use as ammo. I don't think you are one, but I'm just letting you know. God forbid you have to use the Wii controller for a Wii game, or that the game has motion controls in it.

If the boards are drab and non-exciting as you think they are, then yeah, you have a valid reason there, I only have screenshots, but some of them look cool to me, honestly. I like the fact that some of the boards are old school.

Anyway, I expect the game to be about an 8.5, and for Edge a 6.0 is about an 8.5, so I don't really have an issue, except that every once in a while, Edge will give a game that will certainly be worse than MK:Wii a 9.0 or some score like that, and it keeps them from being consistant.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I'm surprised they didn't give Crystal Chronicles a better score, I would of thought maybe an 8 would be appropriate, not super amazing, but still a lot more fun then a 6 would suggest.

Edge scores. Not for the faint of heart.

Reviews are the only thing people still read gaming magazines for anyway.. and it wouldn't really increase interest in their little magazine if they gave MKWii a 9/10 review because all others will likely be giving it that or better. Of course, none of us have played it yet.. what if it really does suck? LOL Nintendo would never release a sucky Mario Kart.
