Is this where Nintendo fans start attacking the reviewers again?

Grr! Anger! Its not a 10/10! DDoS attacks ahoy!

On a different note... i am not getting this one at launch as i got burned after fates, but i might get around to it.

I really think coments like this deserve moderation, literally no one has said anything, so why do you feel the need to create polemic? Because it happened once with the review of a well known sensationalist to the most important Nintendo game of the history it needs to happen with every game?

I've reached act 3 now. It's getting tedious. The battles are as frequent as ever, but the EXP gains are hitting rock bottom. A couple of EXP for hitting something, less than ten for killing something. Level ups commonly resulting in only one or two stat gains makes it all the more dreadful. Echoes is on track to be the worst Fire Emblem released in the West.

I don't like the weapon system, I don't like the skill system, I don't like the class system, I don't like the money system. The cool thing about Fire Emblem has always been that things move forward fast, but Echoes slows down to a crawl. This could get so bad that I will have to force myself to finish the game.

That's disappointing. I knew it would be grind-heavy, but that sounds pretty tedious. Hopefully I can tolerate it...I've survived some pretty grindy games before.

How is the story? Is it decently compelling? I've been expecting it to be on par with Shadow Dragon, the other NES remake, so anything better will impress me.

Sounds like exactly what I feared. I hate being forced to grind in RPG's.

I usually grind anyways, so I guess that it won't be too frustrating for me. Generally, if the gameplay's at least decent, a good story can carry me through it.

You are the one taking it serously. Try reading my second post. Also, stop getting triggered at such insignificant things.

Is it really grinding when you don't have to go out of your way to obtain EXP for the sake of story progression? Because I only do what I must. What's weird is that non-promoted units start to stall at around level 10 while a promoted level 1 unit gets acceptable EXP from the same enemies. The option to promote units triggers at level 10-12, so I am wondering if I shouldn't just promote everyone right away. This is unlike other Fire Emblem games where promoted units get less EXP and it is totally worth it to get to level 20 before promoting units.

The story is surprisingly compelling, comfortably better than Shadow Dragon's. There are also support conversations as well as appearances of characters inside villages and forts to shed more light on their backstories. All of these conversations are notably shorter and less numerous than in the heavyweights Awakening and Fates, but that's still much more than the few conversations Shadow Dragon had.

Hm...I guess I consider it grinding when goes from being fun to tedious...though I guess that varies from person to person.

The experience gains sound strange. So the Jagen-type character isn't an experience hog now? Seems like I'll have to reassess how I go through this one...hm...

Actually another question. I was reading about the DLC season pass. Two of them were story packs, two of them were grind packs, but one of them seemed to offer shrines or something to promote your character. Does promotion work differently here? If it's not item based, is there limitations on it?

Good to hear about the story. I like support conversations, though I felt the last few games focused too much on breadth over depth. Not sure if these are much better content wise either...but I'm definitely glad it's not Shadow Dragon type dialogue.

Famicom JRPGs don't hold up well. The same is true for Famicom SJRPGs. Not to mention this game is a remake of the black sheep of the series. Fire Emblem Gaiden is akin to Adventure of Link, or Castlevania II in this regard.

I haven't played Awakening, but I think Shining Force II would be a better buy than this.

Been playing for about two hours so far, and I like it. The dungeon crawling is neat, and I like being able to communicate with NPCs. Makes the world feel more alive.

Gonna see if the eventual grinding bothers me, but so far it's great.
