Handhelds seem to be effectively extinct in public around where i live. I think the last time i saw one was a 2DS shortly after it released, and i only remember that because it was so unusual. Never seen a Vita at all :p

I feel like i've hardly ever seen a person with a handheld in public before. I didn't see a single Vita being used in public ever just like you, lol. Sort of why it took me by surprise to see a Switch in public, I know the thing is insanely popular right now, but i've just hardly ever seen any people using handhelds in public in general so it was just an "oh" moment for me to see one.

Given how limited the Switch's stock is right now (and by extention overall install base), it's more than likley just chance you saw one. A lot of people want a Switch, but many can't get it at all :p

True, that sort of added a bit more surprise to it as well since I know they're sold out everywhere still and that any new stock keeps selling out immediately lol so I guess that guy was maybe one of the lucky ones or he just preordered as soon as they went up or something like that or he was fast as fuck when they got new stock in. Or maybe he just walked into a store one day and bought one with no hassle at all, who knows lol. :p

I have yet to see one, but I barely see 3DS before either :/

WTF? People actually bring their handhelds to the theatres? I've never seen that happen before.

Good that there is no other device currently on the market that's portable and able to provide entertainment for a few minutes. Nintendo basically has it made for them.

You forgot about smart phones.

I'm pretty sure that he was joking.

Well, if he was joking then I didn't catch it. My bad if that's the case.

For me was something similar.

I was charging my Nintendo Switch in my tutorial (university class) then the person sitting 2 seats away from me said "is that a switch". He happens to hve one as well and we had a conversation on it. Then the people around us and the tutorial teacher joined in, and we had to explain them what it is.

People will definetly be looking at me when I'll be playing Splatoon 2 at uni xD Already had some when I play zelda in the train!

Pocky Lover Boy!

I went to go see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (fantastic movie btw) with one of my friends like a week and a half ago and he pointed out to me that someone in one of the lower rows of seats was playing a Nintendo Switch so I looked down and was like "oh shit". I hadn't seen a Switch in public (or in person for that matter, but mainly because I haven't been looking for any yet) at all until that moment. I couldn't tell from where I was sitting but I think the person was playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I just felt like this was interesting since it's pretty amazing to know that if the Switch can continue its momentum it could eventually be a completly common thing to just see people playing a Switch in any location if it becomes that mainstream. Being able to play a full blown console game while waiting for a movie to start? That's fucking cool.

All Nintendo has to do is just keep up the momentum and the Switch could be truly game changing in the industry imo.

Was it at the Tempe Marketplace theater?

Was this in Toronto Canada at Fairview Mall by any chance?
