Forums - Gaming - What game has the best motion controls?

Metroid Prime Trilogy

Wii Sports Resort

Any Activision FPS for the Wii

Wii Fit Plus... Although I don't know if Balance Board counts as motion controls xD

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Just Dance series

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2/3

I find them to be an unwanted gimmick most of the time, but there have been some games that do motion controls well. Games like Wii Sports, Red Steel 2 and a few others where they are essential to the gameplay it makes sense to use them, but too often they are just a tacked on nuisance that for me personally just detracts from the experience.

If we're not limiting to consoles, just about every game for the HTC Vive has incredible motion controls. It has never stopped wowing me how accurately it reads their exact position lol, it's truly crazy.

Sports champions, especially ping pong and gladiator duel were pretty much perfect.

This. It's basically perfect, especially with table tennis and disc golf. Anyone who says anything on the Wii has not played SC yet.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

If IR pointer controls count as motion then shouldn't mouse or touchscreen controls count as motion too?

Metroid Prime 3 / Trilogy

Wii Sports Resort

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

Nintendo Land (Metorid Blast and Zelda Battle Quest)

Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, 1-2 SWitch and Splatoon

The first 3 showed off the capabilities of the respective controller (Wiimote, Wiimote plus and Joycon) and the latter one perfectly implemented the motion controls of the Wii U gamepad

Skyward Sword has the best implementation into a large adventure game.

Metroid Prime 3 has the best FPS controls (and beats the other games in the trilogy because of the awesome grapple beam).

ExiteBots has the best driving motion controls.

Wii Sports Resort remains the best motion-party game.

Tiger Woods 10-12 are the best uses in a sports game.

Honorable mentions:

Red Steel 2. Really close to SS and MP3, but not quite there.

The Wii DBZ games. Being able to do the motions for the kahehameha attack is still amazing.

Wii Sports is literally the only game I played on Wii (or any other console for that matter) I thought was better because of Motion Controls.

Oh and Just Dance/Wii Fit I guess.

Gladiator duel pretty much ruined Skyward sword for me. It was impossible to go back to gesture recognition after enjoying 1:1 sword fighting. SS drove me crazy with responding with the wrong movements or not responding at all. The other motion controls worked ok in SS, however Bocce or lawn bowling in SS was much better as well.

Table tennis stole the show though. Actually moving to and away from the virtual table really sold the experience. The later difficulties were quite a work out moving sideways, back and forth. I never managed to beat the extra difficulty level.

Sports champions could really use a psvr re-release. It's perfect for it. Holoball was ok yet not as good as table tennis. The only reason I can think of not releasing a psvr sports champions is liability issues. I already dented my ceiling with holoball. Galdiator duel without being able to see your surroundings will be a lawsuit waiting to happen :/
