I rank them like this:
1) Sales. This is by a big margin. More sales of a consoles, more portential sales for third party developers. And without third party developers making money, there is going to be a lot less games.
2) Perception. This barely beats out #3. If the public percieves a console favorably they are more willing to get it over a competitor. This adds to #1.
3) Momentum. Again adds to #1. Keep the sales coming in and more reason for third parties to develope games on a console.
4) Market Share. Again adds to #1. Am I sounding like a broken record yet?
5) Profit. Since the console makers usually take a loss at the begining profit isn't to important for them yet, but third parties need to make money and look at #1-4.
6) Game quality is an off shoot of profit. Quality games often equal more sales and more money, though we have seen good sales for what us hard core gamers call shovel ware.

The problem the PS3 has, is that it will be compared to the PS2. The Wii and 360 don't suffer from the same problem.

I would really like to be a mod. I've been here almost a year now. But failing that, yes, I feel like I could be a valuable contributor. Obviously I'm a big 360 fan, but I'm quite knowlegdable about all three consoles, and I can recognize their faults and qualities. How would you rank my measures in order of importance? |
i agree
u should apply - I'll back u up
starcraft = Wii Fanboy (w/ 360)
I won't deny out of the three the Wii is doing quite well, but you seem to list the 360 as more successful than the PS3, which simply is not so. Like most, you forget the 360 has a year headstart, and like most, you forget the MS "Gaming" division is not just Xbox, but Zune, and mobile software are also apart of it. That being said the Xbox even with its 1 year headstart still has lost more than Sony.
Overall, in success, it is clear it would go Wii, PS3, and thne 360.
