With Tropical Freeze, Retro Studios made the best Donkey Kong game. Ever. Nothing Rare or Playtonic has ever done before with the franchise has been this great. So... no, let the more capable studio do the job.

Would you like to see Playtonic work on another Donkey Kong Country? | |||

At the risk of Donkey Kong becoming like Mega Man with a million different similar series, I would like someone, Playtonic or someone else, to continue making games more like the original 3 DKC games. I don't think Retro need to stop with their own vision for the series, Returns and TF were fine games in their own right but I do prefer the original games and find them quite different to play.
Both series are worthy of continuing but I don't even know if either will continue since I think most people would prefer Retro to work on other games.
Yes, yes, and the original trilogy is a fantastic today as it was back then and those games were awesome, amongst the best of their console. I agree entirely, but why are we talking about Rare tho? This thread is about Playtonic and nothing Playtonic has done makes me think they can do a DKC of the quality of Tropical Freeze, much less of the quality of the original trilogy.

Only because we've yet to see them try a sidescroller. |
Well, true, but they are yet to try anything really, Yooka Laylee is their only game yet - and while I think its a better game than people give it credit for - Its still nothing mindblowing and its the only game we can judge them for. So I dont think we should give such a big IP to a company thats yet to prove itself.

That's exactly what Nintendo did in the past when they gave Metroid to Retro.
But I agree with you anyway, it's a big risk.
Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
