WoW has losing players streadily over 90% of the servers have low polulation. Overwatch and Hearthstone took over WoW in revenues.

Don't forget StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3's populations imploded. But they didn't rely on continuous sales anyway.

Interested to see how the StarCraft Remastered goes as far as sales is concerned... Seems like whatever game Blizzard makes, it prints money.

Not surprising, Blizzard makes bank.

Since the remaster is clearly aimed at the SK crowd of gamers (they even treat SCI as some sort of national sport), I'd expect it to make a decent amount of money over the next few years, from both sides combined.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Blizzard seems to have a mostly PC fanbase. Until recently they were almost exclusively in the PC market, at least that's what my perception has been.

Although they do make some quality games, I would love to see FFXIV take over WoW.

I'd love for more MMO's to be where they are, rather than everyone trying to take some eladership spot. FFXIV is good where it is.

But is WoW in a place that other MMOs would want to be in? Granted, they have the most active subs of any MMO, but they are facing many hurdles as a result of their aging game engine.

I know the MMO scene has been on decline for awhile now, but man, I would love to see it make a comeback. I wish Blizzard never abandoned their WoW successor (can't recall it's name, was it Titan?).

I'd go as far as to say that over a third of PC revenue is generated by only five titles.

LoL, WoW, and Hearthstone alone should easily outpace the entire Xbox brand.

LOL, WOW, Hearthstone, Overwatch, DOTA2 and CSGO.

Also early access games like H1Z1 king of the kill and Playerunknown's Battlegrounds are making a lot of money.

Japanese triple A games like MGS V, Nier: automata or Bayonetta also did well recently. Occidental triple A like The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Civilization V or DOOM...

PC has more users than all consoles combined and it will just grow more and more so whether it's an online game or a single player triple A game you will certainly make money as long as you deliver a decent port and don't abuse with DLC or bullshit.

Uhh, Dota 2 and Hearthstone don't really touch the numbers that brought in by Chinese focused PC games. Dungeon Fighter Online is bigger than all of those except for LOL. But LOL is the reason why Tencent is the biggest video game company in the world.

King also proves to be a fantastic acquisition for Activision. People are still crushing candy.

In 2015 LoL made twice as much money as WoW. Lineage 1 still in top 10 list:

Other MMO's have tried to copy and be WoW for years, it got them in a bind and for otehrs in a state where they had to close up shop or go entirely F2P, I wouldn't call that desirable.

Every MMO will reach a state where they lose subs, you don't just gains more and more and never take any losses till the end of time itself.

MMO scene is going to stay in it's current state, the more devs try to be like WoW and those that copy and tack on features that other MMO's already use. There needs to be completely new experiences, entirely new never before done mechanics in order to set themselves apart. Trying to be exactly like WoW isn't a good idea. Having FFXIV become WoW isn't what I'd want.
