I didn't play the first one. Didn't it get poor reviews?

Couldn't care less about the first one, and after hearing the mixed things people had to say about the game, now I'm somehow even less interested.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
Yes, absolutely. I really like the game and it is so sad that his type of game nearly died out. But next time I would prefer smaller, more polished worlds like in the original BK, DK64, SM64 or Super Mario Galaxy.
The question is really: did the first one sell enough to warrant a sequel..?
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Fund, no. Play, probably. The first game is mediocre but I'm a sucker for 3D platform-adventure games.

Shouldn't they pay for it? I mean, Kickstarter backers funded the original multiple times, why shouldn't Playtonic not use the profits from the first one to make the second one?

I thought they had used all the backer money for the game itself. |
They still have the profits of selling said game. I mean, they didn't give it away for free once funded and finished, at least not to non backers.

Only from Jim Sterling and some guy I can't name. Playtonic was at least a good sport about it, saying they take CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. |
Metacritic lists over 30 reviews for different versions of the game with a score of 60 or lower, so I wouldn't say it was just two poor reviews.
| CaptainExplosion said: What I don't understand is this; Lots of indie retro-style 2D games have been made in the image of games from 30 years ago. Why do they get a pass, yet Yooka-Laylee is called dated a derivative? |
$40.
