Minna golf is at 9 on famitsu top chart and would be climbing to 2nd or 3rd before the release week. Seriously, stop it. Its a frikkin golf game. No sane person will spend $500 bucks for a good looking golf game that doesn´t even have motion sensing. It will sell probably 20k-50k, not more, and won´t push ps3´s. Besides, according to your logic, a good placed game in Famitsu will sell 200k-300k copies in a 900k base console. Well, check how Persona 3 and Odin Sphere are doing. They´ll both stay at 150k probably. in a console with a 20 million userbase. And were better ranked. So plz...stop it

shut up!!!

atleast know something before posting trash.

minna is over DMC 4 and FF13 in the charts.

Gundam Musou being a small budget game did quite decent.

However Blue Dragon which was on par with with FF13 according to Famitsu sold 180k copies till date ( at 20$ only per copy).

minna would move atleast 100k ps3s.

dont forget that neither Trusty Bell or Forza2 are in the top 100 Japanese most wanted list.

Before arguing check the link

Well larry, I wont argument about games I am not 100% sure of nor do I know much about how intressted the japanese is to golf. One thing I do know is that you shouldn't write "shut up!!!" when you are having a discussion. You might disagree or feel that your opponent has flaws in their argument but please behave.

Now some points I would like to make:

  1. Some of the top selling DS games were never on the Famitsu list, so the info from that list can't directly be transformed to sales.
  2. With the amount of games coming out around Trusty Bell we would probarbly see that xbox360 doesn't sell more than PS3, but it could well be a close run if the PS3 continues it's deciline.
  3. If I was a sony fan that had great fate in PS3 I wouldn't say to much about the upcoming games selling powers. The reason for this advice is the so called Gundam bump, a game that would seriously kick some ass according to every sony fan on this site untill the sales number hit.

So according to me June could be an intressting month, with the potentional for a lot of break downs.

Now what date is folksouls actualy coming? I see two different dates on this forum: 6 June or 9 June.

I'm seeing June 21 for FolksSoul on Amazon Japan and June 14 for NGS. Minna Golf 5 is July 26th.

This is all expected to change with the release of Gundam Musou, the highly anticipated collaboration between Koei's Omega Force (known for the Dynasty Warriors series) and Namco Bandai. Consistently on Famitsu's most wanted charts since it was first announced two months ago, Gundam Musou is the game that will drive PS3 sales in Japan (at least until Final Fantasy XIII arrives). Gundam games are extremely popular in Japan, but this one is special; it matches the Dynasty Warriors gameplay (which is also quite popular there) with the Gundam universe. It's guaranteed to sell a lot of units (Namco Bandai states it expects to sell over a million copies of the game), and certainly push hardware sales for Sony.

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/767/767135p1.html

At the event, Koei cofounder Keiko Erikawa had this to say about the upcoming title: "We've made a fantastic game. Gundam Musou is the most ordered PlayStation 3 game, but it's just one tenth of the sales we're thinking of. For us, Bandai's Gundam is one million , and the Musou series is one million. We'd like to sell a total of two million copies."

This was no small budget game with modest expectations, it was the merging of two massive Japaneese franchises that had a very large budget; it was hyped to no end as the "savior" of the PS3 and was expected to sell really well. The fact that it sold so poorly is a bad sign for every upcomming PS3 game in Japan regardless of whether they're on Famitsu's most wanted list or not.

My prediction:

Trusty Bell will be the one to push the 360 past the PS3 for at least a week.

It it hit in May it would have.

But not in June, 9th Folksoul and on the 14th NGS on PS3.

My mistake.  I was under the impression that it was being released on 5/29.

I still think it will sell better then what most people are predicting.

Don't bother. Larry must have been told 100x already that Bandai itself said Gundam sales were a huge disappointment. No matter how much overwhelming evidence you provide, Larry will never acknowledge it.

Don´tell to shut up when you don´t have an argument, plz. Those guys that post for the golf game in Famitsu obviously already have a ps3, cmon, it´s just common sense. Would you pay $560 dolars to play a frikin golf game, that is 100% unrealistic anyway?. FFXIII Versus is ranked lower, yes, but probably because there is almost no information for it?, and it appeals to FF fans, so it is natural that they vote for the main game, . In the end, that golf game will sell tops 100k-120k and won´t move ps3´s. The only game with power to move consoles for a loooooooooong time is DQS, which anyway I don´t think will have a huge effect. And Gundam Musou....you know it was a fusion of 2 very important franchises in Japan right? Franchises that normally sell at least 500k per game.

It's impressive how Ouenden 2 sold more in its first week than Ouenden 1 did in its entire release

@auroragb Yes which I think is a good indications on that the userbase on DS is buying more games other than that I must say that larry got awfull quit when people started to point out the disaster Gundam actualy was...

In Japan, ouendan was hot-game in internet. So, I think the number of ouendan 2 is besed on this effect.

If you need something about Japanese market from the perspective of Japanese, please contact me.

I heard about the popularity of ouenden over the inter-tubes and it was why I bought elite beat agent.  Tho I wonder why, if it was popular on the internet in japan, did it (ouenden 1) not sell better?
