Forums - Politics - Turkey bans Wikipedia

Who likes knowledge anyways.

Big deal. Teachers all over the world have been banning billions of students from using Wikipedia for over a decade now. But as soon as a dictator does it once everyone is losing their minds.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

The people of turkey who voted for it are to be blamed. Still funny how Erdogan labels everyone, who opposes him, as a nazi.

He knows what he's doing. Blocking access to knowledge is key for any wannabe-dictator.

It was pretty obvious Turkey was doomed the moment that coup failed... It worked many times in the past, but perhaps relying on a military coup to prevent autocracy and restore democracy every couple decades was not the best of ideas.

There's still a lot of foreigners working in Turkey, I wonder if they'll pack up and leave? I know the team at Taleworlds who are working on the sequel to Mount & Blade work there, and I'd certainly take this as a sign to get back across the Bosporus if I was them heh

pretty much any time a Government wants to stop their population from education of themselves or to control the media that they can see.. you know that they are villains then. There is nothing more devastating to a group of people than limiting their ability to learn.

On the other hand, the US has full access to the internet and still, Trump is president.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Sorry for the ignorance, as I'm a bit out of the loop. This bloke has been in power for a long time now, why only now is he going full retard?

Looks like Turkey is ready to go back in time. Probably just like Iran in a few years.

Which islamic country takes the crown now as the most democratic and progressive since Turkey has now lost it. A real shame that the country has gone backwards.

I don't get the comparisons with Trump, if he fails he's out next election I can't see this happening in Turkey.

I'd say Malaysia and Indonesia both take the crown here.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I was hoping the coup would have been successful. Sadly it was not.
