Mine seems fine. There's nothing jutting out so, I can't see how it can get scratched unless you're trying to shove it in at an angle.

It does. Source: my own Switch. But I put a screen protector now.

And that's how you get your Switch scratched. It adds a millimeter or so to the screen and the back of the system will get scratched in the Dock. Not because it's bent, but because the Switch itself is now thicker and the dock is shaped to hold it securely so it doesn't move around and get damaged inside.

You could use light cloth on both sides of the dock so as to not harm the front or back of the console.

Is there really any danger in the back of the Switch getting scratched? Don't see how it's gonna get scratched by a flat surface.

I was just saying it for people who are extra extra careful you know. Anyway what someone should do is release a soft skin for for the dock that in no way can damage the screen. It would also be very popular for people who are extra careful and it would provide a 100% solution to that problem

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

No scratches, but I believe the rubber bumpers at the bottom of the dock are smudging my Switch screen.

Of course it "can" scratch the screen if you are irresponsible. Forcing it in or coming in hot at odd angles can jab the screen (and other areas) with the edges of the dock in a similar fashion to if you slam it against the floor or throw it across the room. The one time you are not mindful when you put it in, could be the one time that you scrape it against the rougher edges of the dock. In general, no you won't scratch the screen, however I would still recommend a very thin screen protector to guard it against being negligent once or twice.

I got my Switch for over a month now and I'm docking it at least twice a day, everyday. I don't have screen protector and I haven't found a single scratch yet, so for me this story is BS. Not to mention if those scratches are caused by the dock, why don't they go vertically?

IDK. I but a tempered glass protector. And I'm careful when docking and undocking it.

Launch Switch here. No scratches so far. I did just get a tempered glass screen protector last weekend, though, just in case.

Not a single scratch on the screen but I did not very minimal scratches on the back of the Switch. They're barely noticeable and I only noticed them because I was actively looking for it.

I've had my Switch since launch and have yet to put a screen protector on it, and it's got no noticeable scratches that I can see. Although I'd take a plastic screen over one that will shatter any day.
