Forums - Sales - has nintendo ever lost money 1 finanscal year or will it happen

I dont think they have. If it happens, they will be in deep trouble.

You can kind of see what might have happened though, 2004 seems to be their worst year, after which the DS saved them.... had they not released the DS (instead waiting and releasing a new GB in 2005/6 followed by a non-Wii) what might have come to pass.

Although to be honest Nintendo could probably run ok on 1st-party franchises.

I assume that the 2008 number is still incomplete... which means 2008 might see close to $3billion in profit. Immense numbers. In fact in those 3 quarters of 2008 Nintendo has made more money than the entire PS division.

A table that has been posted very recently and was easy to find:

All numbers in US-Dollars.

So in 10 years Nintendo has made 10 billion dollars(after forth qtr) Sony has made say 2.3billion and MS lost 6.2 billion. So for all those consoles Sony sold and games sold and they don't have much to show for it. Nintendo are masters at what they do.

i guess those are sony comp. entertainment figures and not sony corp figures in that table right?

it would be nice to also know the sony corp. figures during those years
so you can really know how sony was doing

''Hadouken!''

nintendo consoles
have always been difficult to pirate
look at the n64 versus the psx
or the gamecube versus the ps2

half of the psx and ps2 games played are probably pirateted games
if not more
where almost all nintendo games in those years where original copies

plus!

nitendo always had the money machine called the gameboy
so nintendo was operating on two fronts

without game boy sales
those figures in that table would have looked a lot less nice for nintendo

''Hadouken!''

That's like saying without the PS2, that table would have looked a lot less nice for Sony. What's the point?

wow, Nintendo sure know how to plan it's strategy on the market, they haven't lost money in a single year

hold your horses
i'm no sony-bot

but nintendo has always had, in the years of that table,
it's handheld to also make money for them,
a lot of money, maybe even more than their consoles have

it's just something i found relevant to state
that they had 2 money makers

i'm not saying that because of that those earnings aren't well done or not deserved..

''Hadouken!''

poor SEGA :(
