You know, if they didn't say anything, no body would have cared?

This. It doesn't seem like something you'd actually need to come out and confirm... but hey at least it adds diversity so certain groups can't argue that they're being left out, even though it's at the cost of historical accuracy, lol.

Sure women never fought in the front lines during the World War 2.

Can't place an African'African American there too because it upsets certain groups that want to protect the white washed history.

You seem be reading too much into what I said and have gotten a little upset over it, so let my clarify;

Since they seem to be all about diversity, I don't want to see us playing in a group where each character is a different race/gender combination simply because "it's diverse and appeals to people of other race/genders"

It's a game. They have zombies in it as well.

If they went for accuracy, each soldier wouldn't engage in more than 2 firefights on average. You wouldn't have a rifle, a pistol and a sniper rifle. Your life won't regenerate, etc...

There were more than just white Europeans in the frontlines. French brought a lot of their African and Asian colonies and Britain the same and most likely all of the squad had at least one white officer.

I know they have zombies in it as well, that part is clearly not based on reality... and as for the life not regenerating, that's one of the worst things FPS games have done, regenerating life... shame it's been like that since Call of Duty 2 (Just talking about this franchise) and I wish they'd go back to actually having health, it works great for Overwatch! (I'm sort of addicted to it, lol)

Again though, you're getting a little too upset over what I said...

Yes, I am. Not at you directly but towards the unfounded rage over inclusion of groups that really participated in World Wars but were never recognized for their sacrifice.

Is that historically accurate though?

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

There is absolutely no rage in any of my posts, and the fact that you think that is actually rather funny to me... if there were anything I'd be upset/angry over, it'd be that they've actually felt the need to come out and say it in the first place, that they couldn't just release the game without having to remind everyone "Hey look we have a diverse cast of characters!".

It spans from indignation to rage. Not wanting to see a group get recognition for WWII fits somewhere in that spectrum.

It shouldn't have upset you that they announced that even for commercial reason. It doens't diminish the experience or tarnish names in them doing so. On the contrary, it just informs people that usually don't see certain gropus get represented, get their stories told for once or rarely in that scenario.

So literally the same as in CoD 3, just that it was an NPC instead of a player-character.

Why can't they include versatile battlefields from multiple theatres instead (I know, money). Would be interesting to fight as Japan or Germany, too. Or China, or Yugoslavia, Romania...

It can be, though it makes sense that some might think it feels a bit artificial. The overwhelming majority of those who fought and died in combat on the western front (where this game takes place) were young white men, so you have to be very selective in your presentation to consistently end up with a diverse cast and it not be a warping of history. The same holds true on the eastern front gender wise, but it was considerably more racially diverse.

We don't really know enough about CoD:WW2 to come to firm conclusions about its approach yet though.

As long as the inclusion isn't blatant pandering I think it's fine. However I would be interested if this Call of Duty doesn't focus its entire single player campaign on the Western Front.

I feel like a lot of western FPS set in WW2 neglect the Eastern Front most of the time while the Asia Pacific region is entirely forgotten.

They do this so Neogaf members can play it.

A French resistance fighter makes sense, also a number of women fought in the Russian front. One of Russia's best snipers was a woman, in fact. Her name was Liudmyla, and she recorded 309 kills. So yeah, being a woman doesn't mean you can't shoot a gun (though, of course, the vast, vast majority of soldiers in WW2 were men).
