If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're tossing in talk of emulation, but also containing the whole piracy one as well.

For what it's worth, emulation for the latest isn't always going to be smooth sailing, not for everything and it's not going to be as cheap as chips either, but the progress is getting there.

Yeah emulation of relatively recent hardware is mainly going to be for the enthusiasts and those with money to burn.

It's kinda fucked up to see people making money off of a tool that's mostly going to be used for piracy. Stuff like this should be shut down imo especially if the developers of the emulator are making money off of it. How is this any different from someone getting paid to counterfeit a painting?

Bleem and VGS were commercial emulators. Guess what? Sony sued them and lost:

Bleem required a ps1 dics to operate and even though sony turned them down conectix did everything in their power to do things legitimately. How long will it be before BotW Roms are everywhere on the internet and people can play them illegally using the Wii u emulator assuming it isn't already possible. I legitimately believe Nintendo among other companies should attempt to have the court case reversed

Why would you want the court case reversed? Are you a Nintendo shareholder or something? It's just going to piss a lot of people off.

Because I actually enjoy video games and I would prefer if the people that played them actually buy them so developers and publishers can continue to make more video games

Piracy has existed since video games have existed, and yet developers and publishers still continue to make games. So maybe it's not a huge deal like many people make it out to be?

I'm going to give you 4 factual statements:

1. Some people pirate games to play on emulators

2. Some people buy games to play on emulators

3. Some people buy games to play on consoles

4. Some people pirate games to play on consoles

Painting with a wide brush does nobody good.

The fact that some people use emulation legally doesn't suddenly justify all the people that use it ilegally.

Emulation requires way too much processing power to be viable for most people. It's not going to kill any game that was going to be even half-successful in the first place because not enough people can afford or are willing to spend enough to get a powerful enough PC. It would probably be sort of an achivement for even 100,000 people to emulate a single game, and that would certainly not hurt any decently successful games too much. Whatever piracy emulation is causing is probably not very much in the big picture.
