Forums - Nintendo - Currently from top 5 best reviewed games in 2017. Switch has 3 games

I have no idea how people are taking the op seriously when he is using a different SKU of the same game to drive his point. Talk about desperate measures to push your agenda lol

You're not the first person to be confused and make this mistake. The 3 Switch games are Zelda, Mario Kart, and Shovel Knight.

Now we can hopefully have no one else make that mistake.

Soo by this pointless system switch is already clearly a better choice then ps4.

Ofcourse it still doesn't have these absolutely incredible games.
Nioh
Yakuza 0
Horizon
Nier automata
Kh 2.8
Kh collection.
Gravity rush 2
Etc etc.

Sorry 1 great switch game is not going to make me want to have a switch..

This not about "you" or is supposed to make people buy a Switch.

You would buy the Switch if you love Nintendo games. If you dont...... I would not recommend buying one.

Ew, Mario Kart way too high. Also the only remaster I know of (there could be another one, but I can't really think of any) to ever score better than the original game, for some reason. And don't tell me fixing Battle Mode is automatically worth of five more points!

Were they reviewed by the same person?

I dunno. Considering metacritic is an accumulation of several reviews instead of a single one, probably not.

And in the top 10, 5 are on the PS4.

You can move to the top 100. But the important ones are already on Switch.

Although Zelda can also be gotten on the Wii U, MK8 is a port, and Shovel Knight is on pretty much every console available. Still, looking good for the Switch so far.

The console just released and already has a 97 and a 94 lol

Wait until Splatoon 2 and Mario Oddissey comes, this year is gonna be huge for Switch

I'm calling it now: Nintendo will be metacritic's Publisher of the Year for 2017.

yeah it is pretty damn impressive that arguably the first 3 big releases for the Switch (Zelda, Mario Kart, Shovel Knight package) all have 90+. Talk about a way to build momentum.

I actually just dipped into Shovel Knight for the time ever and it is pretty great : o full of charming humor and colorful little characters, it has a lot more heart than your average 16 bit (style at least) platformer. I know its a third party game but I believe the current Treasure Trove set is a temporary exclusive for the Switch so. Cool game.

As for Mario Kart 8- excited to hear about the critics giving it raving reviews with the some updated tech/graphics and the expansive added Battle Mode. I never played the Wii U version really so will be mega excited to get it in a week and play. Another gorgeous looking game.

and then obvs Zelda speaks for itself.

I have to say, originally I was kind of shitting on the Switch's launch window library, but the third party games have really made it killer combined with a few big Nintendo IP. Between Fast RMX, Zelda, Binding of Isaac, Mario Kart, Tetris/Puyo, and Shovel Knight, should be a solid system for a while. I still hope they have some surprise summer or Fall releases because those sections of the year are mysterious at this point, but overall I'm pretty content with the release schedule so far.

But, yeah, shocking that the Switch in its first like month or two has already had three 90 Metacritic games, two of which are unusually high scores you only see rarely (94 potentially for M8Deluxe and 97 for Zelda).

Counting a very late port of an indie game from last generation just shows how misleading this list is. You might as well count all PS1 games as PS2 games since the system was 100% backwards compatible...

The Switch is nothing special atm. Give it some time.

that logic fails competely. No one counted Super Smash Bros Melee or Mario Sunshine as Wii 90+ Metacritic games just because the Wii was backwards compatible. Terrible logic.

if there was a PS1 game that was RERELEASED on the PS2 with added content and features and it got rated high by critics then it would be totally fair (although now that I think of it, there weren't a lot of rereleases between those two gens, maybe because they coexisted for quite a bit in the early 2000s).

the Shovel Knight compilation is awesome and surprisingly plays very comfortably on the Switch in handheld mode, despite the lack of a traditional D pad.

as for Mario Kart 8- apparently the Battle Mode is killer and its technically like perfect. Zelda I don't think I need to discuss on why it earned its Metacritic score....

you can make all the excuses you want, but there are plenty of terribly optimized ports or remasters all of the time. In fact debatably the majority. We should be giving credit where credit is due when a studio upgrades a game or optimizes it to play well on a system (Shovel Knight), particularly because the norm isn't necessarily that it goes well. Also its easier said than done to make a game work perfectly with a totally different systems controls and configurations.

Switch is obvs off to a good start in terms of software that is highly rated. and for the record- critics are generally harsh as fuck on remasters and things, I think its plainly obvious that they're happy about Shovel Knight and Mario Kart 8 because they contain a lot of content and technically are great at running on the Switch
