Pocky Lover Boy!
One week and it has sold 4x the number of X1 units in Japan already.
That was a tough battle, but the X1 lost out in the end... of the first few hours.
Great first week though, just hope it continues on now with the launch of Mario Kart in 2 weeks time and Minecraft the week after that, the machine already will have a nice selection of must play games.

Crazy to think in one week 1/10 of Wii u's were just replaced! Great start just wondering how big it could have been if they had more stock. Month later it's still sold out and it's hard just to find a controller for this thing. Also this talk of ps4 and it's bigger launch week is apples to oranges. If Nintendo had more confidence in switch and manufactured more for launch I'm sure it would be a larger number at launch. I'm seeing a lot of hype for this system and people I know who normally don't get Nintendo consoles want this system.
Xbox one was only released in 13 Tier 1 countries, (people forget fast =p).

First bolded part... in all fairness the wiiU didn't set a very high bar to begi with.
Second bolded part.... and you are choosing to ignore hard data and chase dreams instead. Whose fault is it that nintendo didn't have confidence in the Switch? What does that even mean? Does a company spend 4-5 years planning and making something for it to maybe go out and fail? How about this though, being taht the PS4 also sold out of all the units the made at launch and went on to have an almost 4-6 month supply issue, guess we could also be saying if sony had had the sense or means to make 2M more consoles they would also have had a larger number too....... You see why ignoring the data is bad?

not sure who to blame that people forget so fast and...
Well if you don't want to be fair that's fine but that's like saying Switch launch was amazingly better in Japan compared to PS4 because in Japan the PS4 was not released for months later.

The worst thing is that MS doesn't seem to learn. So I think they will do the same with Scorpio

Come september it will still have been out there for 3 years and have 80k sales under its belt. As said earlier, Switch outsold it 4x in the first week.
Just in Japan I'm talking about here, sorry for confusion.

It's not chasing dreams to state facts. In fact there was a news about Nintendo ramping up production to meet demand and rumors of them projecting to make 20 million for the year. Stating Nintendo's fails on way understocking was not to say that Sony couldn't have sold more but to say that there launches are not comparable... so stop being such a fanboy. Sony produced more ps4s because they were confident they would sell through. After the lack luster sales of Wii u Nintendo played it safe and now are way behind on demand. Both had great launches both sold out and that's what matters.
Turkish said: It definitely wasnt supply constrained in Europe. It never sold out on any Amazon sites, probably a bad thing for Scalpers who bought 20 of those consoles. |
Louie said: Whenever I'm on Amazon Germany it is sold out. Even the Joy-Cons are sold-out... so yes, it is supply constrained. It doesn't have to be sold out all the time to be so either. If Europe gets one shipment per week and that sells out after 3 days that's a supply constrained console even though you can find it in stores 4 out of 7 days. Edit: Yep, just checked it. The grey model is sold out. They have one neon model in stock right now. The cheapest grey model you can get on Amazon Germany is €379. The cheapest Neon model is €409. (The one model available sold while I was editing my post!) |
radishhead said: What are you talking about? It was sold out on Amazon UK for over a month after release - the Grey version only got back in stock TODAY. Maybe in some tiny Eastern-Europe markets it wasn't sold out, but they don't particularly matter for sales. |
Anecdotal evidence being destroyed by anecdotal evidence. Nice.
