Forums - Sony - A few question about PS+ and saves data

Since my Vita 16 gb memory card is started to running out of space I'm considering going back to physical games while keeping my save data. Since save data is tied to the games when digital and the digital version override the physical version I think about using my PS Plus free trial to use save my data in the cloud, delete the games from the memory card and then when u insert the game card, download the save data again to my device. The question is, can it work?

I think you can delete your games and still keep your saves. Go to the data management app.

I have an original Vita with no internal memorywhatsoever. Even if you buy physical, your saves still go to the memory card. Vita cards don't save game data.

-I just checked. In the content manager, your games are under "apps" and saves are in a separate section. You can delete one and keep the other. You'll need a memory card regardless.

Also, if you have a PS3, you can copy your card to it. Saves, videos, and everything.

If you're asking if save data from the digital game will work with the physical card version, I think so.

You can also back up saved data to a PC/Laptop with content manager if you don't want to use PS+.

Deleting the game I don't think deletes save data. Esp not the case on PS4. My PS4s pitiful 500GB HDD runs low all the time with me so always deleting games. Since PS4 just added External HDD support plan to buy one soon. Whatever is on your Vita card you can put in another vita and carry on like nothing has changes. Only the model 2 Vita has 1GB of internal storage so maybe settings there would be different.

I have on PS4 digital versions of games but deleted it when I got a physical like Rocket League. My save data is intact. The Save data will be there physical or digital copy. The save data recognizes the game not the format and pretty sure it's the same for Vita.

I think that only applied for PSP and PS1 games. There is no way to separate the games and the save from the digital version.

Yes that will work. Make sure you upload to the cloud, once you delete the game/app everything is gone

Tho if you're not struggling id wait for a good month with the free games

It definitely does on the Vita, unless it was changed with a firmware update at some point. It's crazy but it's true. You need to backup the save to PS+ or a PC/Laptop if you want to delete the game.

Content manager will backup the whole app, not just the save data. Also if you have both physical and digital games the save data will prefer the digital one, I think.

That made me raised another question. With the save data now tied to your account do you need the games to be the same region as your PSN account or not? Also can you still play the games on the multiple account with different region?
