I've had the same job for almost 5 years. Not the best of jobs, but it keeps me interested enough in wearing pants in the morning.

Good for you, to work is a good part of being an adult and I think it is awesome. To do something that someone finds value in, being serving a meal or building a machine, or cleaning something, or delivering something, whatever, helping your fellow human being.

It is a great thing.

I agree,  Working, creating value, is rewarding in and of itself.  Then there's the paycheck

Thanks to education I won't have to do any manual labor ever. Know what I did yesterday? I browsed VGC, Reddit and picked up the phone a few times.

And you feel good about this?

And never did manual labour either?

Not as a main occupation. Sometimes I have to lift some heavy stuff and install new hardware into racks but nothing too straining. Which is great. That means I can do my job until I die without worrying about deteriorating health. Praise education.

So you do have manual labour then.

Meh, it gives me more time to do shit I won't do at home. It's not like it's like that every week but this week is pretty uneventful. Though today I probably have to actually work for most of the day.

I do work that most people can't and I do it well. After my last two jobs I deserve this one.

I would use this as a chance to get back in shape. It has been great since i lost 30 kg myself. I feel so much better in all ways.

Yes I do manual labor, once or twice a year.

Now that I think about it I had a paper route before I started actually working. 1 year 6 days a week in the middle of the night. It was horrible. Really gives you that motivation to work on yourself so you never have to do that shit ever again.

Stay in school, kids!

What...what do you do for a living? Something along the lines of Systems administration?

And I already am starting to feel down. I'm working at Lowe's, which kind of sucks as I have no interest whatsoever in home renovation. Today was orientation, so it wasn't quite bad, but I'm feeling stressed because school exams are coming up and I'm going to have to work a lot, so I'm not going to be able to study as much as I'd like. I have another day of orientation tomorrow, and then I've got a few days of training. I'm going to be a loader, which will probably suck as I'm not in very good physical shape, so I know that I'll be very tired by the end of my shifts!

What do you load, and what type of equipment do you use?

Network administrator. It's like system administrator but you need an actual brain for it. Yeah, I said it.

Just think of those less privileged poor fellows on some 3rd world countries doing odd jobs and you'll be fine.
