| DOATS1 said: starcraft, while i agree that the 360 has some really good exclusives lined up, i have to say that most of these exclusives probably only appeal to a hardcore market. i say this because in '07, the 360 boasted without a doubt, the BEST games. yet the 360's game of the year (bioshock), shifted little over 1.5 million copies. same applies for mass effect. no other system had so many aaa titles in such a small time. 360 will have another good year for games, but the simple fact that sony will also have a good year will overshadow the quality the 360 has. ps3 had no games last year, yet it still sold units. now games like gt5:p (not even a full game) are shifting units like it was the real deal. if a game like bioshock can't push the 360 into a sales frenzy, then what makes you think that fable 2 or ninja gaiden 2 will change that? we all know the effect gears 2 will have, but banjo kazooie has not been on a system since n64, and i'm guessing the majority fans of that game have a wii, so you can't really count that as a proven franchise, when it's been dorment since god knows when, things have changed. the ONLY game i can say that will SHIFT consoles is gears 2. the rest are really good games, but are not really system sellers. |
Both 360 and PS3 consoles are targeted at the Hardcore gamer market(30%). Wii is targeted at the the casual gamer(70%). Its a no brainer the Wii is dominating the console generation.
is this dude for real? at this point how can you say that the 360 will win the war or even has better games. just because the ps3 has even close to the sales of the 360 is laughable because the 360 has SO MUCH more support and has been out longer. its even more funny that its being out sold by a good margin now! you act like you dont pick sides but we all know that you go into rooms and fill peoples heads with this false 360 hype. cutting down killzone 2? are you even kidding after having a game like halo 3, how can you say overhyped?! do your research before you spread false stuff. racers?! if you want to play fun racer games get a 360. if you want to get games with GOOD graphics and more than 5 maps get a ps3. you cant even compare GT to anything out there. you come off as being mr fan boy. haha who starts a blog like that... oh does the 360 have a high def player?! come back to that
sailor, what games are you talking about? Forza 2 is the litmus test for good racing games...
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
I bought my Xbox360 for RPG games
I bought my PS3 for future RPG games (but mostly for bluray)
I bought my Wii for the worlds greatest videogame maker(ninty for you dummies)
If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing

without saying that sales number of a platform doesn't represent the quality of its library.... people's choice is not the synonyme of quality or/and right choice... it's just the result of an efficient addvertising and marketing campain nothing more nothing less..... nothing more than 20% of the buyers are doing a wellthought decision when they buy..... and that's a statistical fact we use evryday in marketing and advertising.... what's funne is 80% of the buyer claim the opposite :) welcome to the evil empire of mind controling ;) |
I'm not sure what your response had to do with my post, but I can see that you cling to the belief among advertisers that they cause the majority of sales across all product lines. This may be true for products such as soap or breakfast cereal, but for major purchases such as gaming consoles a much higher percentage of consumers either rely on store sales staff or recommendations from other consumers. Internet users are also going online to read reviews of products.
It's a bitter pill to swallow for those in the advertising biz, but there it is.
Welcome to the self-deluded world of marketing and advertising.

| superchunk said: @leo, I don't want any of those games really. MGS4 might be nice, but, meh I can live without the few games that are pure exclusives and not console/PC games. for me a Civ game is >>>> than a FF game. A battlefield game is >>>> than resistance/halo/insert other console fps crap. Hell, CoD4 >>> resistance/halo/etc. Rachet??? um no. Nintendo owns this class of game anyways. My sig should be read with obvious personal tastes inserted and that a very small number of big games are not PS360/PC games right now and for the near future. |
Superchuck,
As much I like your argument about WiiPC revolution, you do realize your PC rig cost as much an 80 gig PS3 and an Elite 120 gig 360 combined. And though you do get exclusives like true RTS series, true MMO, FPS like Crisis and ton of free indie games, the trade off is you are going have to upgrade in a few months vs. consoles have very limited upgrading needed until the next console. Plus maintenance/updating/upgrading/system tweaking is extra work vs console plug and play concept. PC gaming will be on the bleeding edge of technology but can be more expensive in the long run vs just buy 360 or PS3.
Plus you can't even play new versions of Madden on a PC anymore.... Crappy EA

Why do you not mention fighting games?
Think twice before helping a friend in need.
^There are Dead or Alive 4(360), Fight Night Round 3(PS3/360), Virtua Fighter 5 (PS3/360). Soul Calibur 4(PS3/360) due out later this year.
@Superchunk your Wii / Super PC combination wins hands down. But the cost of a super PC exceeds the costs of both a PS3 80Gb console and a XBox 360 Elite 120Gb console combined.

You don't need a high end pc just to play games, most of the games run nice (High settings) with a medim PC (Around 600-700tops brand new), the games are cheaper, and the pc is used for more things than just play games, like make some money...
Edit: The only game which needs a great pc is Crysis and, is not a great game after all...
