Already worth it to me, and I don't even plan on getting the Wii U version of BotW.
Now if I had neither system, would I pick up a Wii U over a Switch, eh probably not.

WiiU was worth it since 2014, however if somebody ask me now I would recommend to get a Switch instead, if money is not a problem though, then a WiiU too, since I don't think great games like Tropical freeze, 3DWorld or Tokyo Mirage Sessions are gonna be ported to Switch.
Love my Wii U, got the Smash Bros/Splatoon bundle for $250 on BF in 2015. Crazy to think the console is still selling for $300
I got a Wii U for two reasons!
1) I hadn't owned a Wii so I have that Entire back catalogue plus Virtual Console to enjoy.
2)Breath of the Wild was initually developed for Wii U so I knew it would be better on the Wii U.
It's a great system, it will be the main console in my living room for another year or two. Then I'll get a Switch when that library is more robust than just Zelda and MarioKart.
Bought mine on day one and loved it ever since--though it was tough love in 2016.
Unfortunately, a lot of its best exclusives are now available elsewhere.
Now that it has its centrepiece in Breath of the Wild, I would say that overall I'm satisfied with my Wii U.
Now is the best time to buy a Wii U if you want to be behind the times.
At $300?
NO
Not with so many other options in the market. I still wanna buy it to play all the Zelda games, but I'm gonna wait until I can get it used for about $150.
It's still debatable, since you can get Zelda for the Switch
but, I felt that the Wii U was worth it in 2015 despite 2016 being pretty barren

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]
I don't think it is. Not for me at least, especially since I can access one without the need of purchasing it (borrowing it from a family member). Even if I couldn't, I don't feel anywhere near close to like feeling I'd like one, either. I still see it as a disappointing Nintendo system and I'm not fond of it.
The games I really enjoyed on it are:
· Super Smash Bros U (Awesome game, got to say that. Poured plenty of hours into it)
· Bayonetta 2
· ZombiU
· The Wind Waker HD
· Resident Evil: Revelations
Then there are some games I wanted to try on it, like:
· Breath of the Wild
· Tokyo Mirage Sessions
· Pikmin 3
And outside these I don't really feel like there's anything else worthwhile on it that I can't find anywhere else, whether a port or a similar experience, or that doesn't really entice me enough to go purchase a WiiU to play it. So no, not even the new Zelda can't change my perception on how poor this console feels to me.
