So 3DS getting 5 hours out of a 13 year old port is more impressive? Sure, makes sense.

The OoT remake is about as demanding as any other 3DS game.

False, some 3ds games are way more consuming, like Street Fighter IV or Smash Bros

Those two games are the only exception. And who the heck gets SFIV for the 3DS? It doesn't even have all the characters. Does it even have online play?

No, those are the first examples that came to my mind, not the only exceptions at all, you are forcing your argument too much.

Snake Eater 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, all the Monster Hunters, Kid Icarus Uprising

SFIV sold over 1 million on 3DS and yes it has online.

I think you are detracting a little bit over here since the argument is battery life drain whlie playing demanding games, the example doesn't really matter because you also have games like Xenoblade or the Zelda Muso games that also drain a fuck ton of battery and the 3DS can't even maintain 30FPS a lot of times with those games. I can probably list more but I'm sure if you go down the list on wiki of games, you will see a shit ton of them lol. My 3DSXL never lasts more than 5 hours usually, at best 3-4 due to the type of games I play and the fact that street pass is always on. Switch battery ratio is on par with the other portables and I take it with me daily when I goto work without problems.

But being a hybrid console is.

No is not, at all. Being an hybrid makes it the most flexible console ever, how is that a gimick? my laptop is not a gimmicky PC, why would be the switch a gimmicky console? The only reason why is called gimmicky is because is made by Nintendo, that's it.

All right, then about 75-80% of all 3DS games last for 5 hours. But what about the Switch? Will every game be as demanding as BotW? Or is BotW akin to Smash and Monster Hunter on the 3DS? IMO 3 hours of unplugged playtime might as well be 1 hour. If Splatoon 2, and Odyssey wind up lasting 5 hours on the Switch, then I take back my "portability is a gimmick" statement.

If by "same page" you mean becoming offended over a word that really isn't offensive then, trust me, I'm okay with not even being in the same chapter, much less on the same page.  Becoming all politically correct over a electronic device is just silly.  Businesses use gimmicks in marketing and advertising.  That's just the simple truth.

You needed to act oblivious because you wanted to take a dig at Nintendo fans. Now you need to keep up the act, because otherwise you would have to admit your intent.

I care nothing for your persecution complex.  You can read "intent" all day if you want but, seriously, it looks so hyper-sensitive to interpret everything as an insult directed only at the group you identify with.

Perhaps you want to explain to me how what I said points only at Nintendo fans?  You have some convoluted pseudologic mapped out that rationalizes how my statement wouldn't apply to anyone else who gets upset over the word "gimmick"?

Sony uses gimmicks, Microsoft uses gimmicks, and Nintendo uses gimmicks.  You're not a special snowflake.

But you are always on the same page when it comes to make jabs at Nintendo and its fan, the thing that baffles me the most is how you believe nobody realizes of what you do when actually you always make it so damn obvious is hard not to see it. In this thread you are suggesting Nintendo fans have a ridiculous inferiority complex because they sometimes feel offended by a word that has been used on an offensive way for more than a decade, amazing.

You already know what I think of you always pretending to be a victim.  You think everything is an insult directed toward Nintendo.  Seriously, get over yourself and gain some perspective.  Rol is the kind of person who constantly makes snide comments about everything that is not Nintendo so it kind of makes sense that he assumes everyone else is the same.  You don't have to be like that.  Trying to interpret everything through a lens of paranoia is annoying to those around you.

Let's take a look at what I said that I assume you're bruised up over:  "It's kind of amusing to see people get puffy over the use of the word "gimmick". It's like some kind of projection for an inferiority complex."

Honestly, maybe you want to explain to other Nintendo fans why you think that only applies to them?

If the glove fits, then it just bloody fits.  It doesn't check to see what video-game faction you belong to first.

yes, that is the definition of gimmick but thats not how people use it.

The majority of people use the word in a negative way, as in a feature that serves no purpose.

If they used the word correctly than that would mean that literally every feature of every device is a gimmick and clearly thats not what is being said.

that is such a dumb statement, how many hours do you think the average person plays in a day? its not 3 hours and it sure as hell isnt 3 hours in a single sitting, let alone while being away from a power source.

Outside of a small group of people who like to complain on this internet, a 3-5 hour battery life is fine.
