Forums - Gaming - Hardcore Wii and PS3 owners. Would you consider a 360?

I'm a PS3/Wii owner.   And the answer is no.  I'm surprised I got both of those by my wife.  I got the Wii by her bc she thought the price was reasonable and she plays a few of the games with me.  I got the PS3 by her bc of Blu Ray and Rock Band (so what if it is coming to Wii ).  I just don't think there is anyway that I could get the 360 by her.  Maybe at the end of the life cycle if it's cheap enough.

Pretty unlikely. I bought PS3 with three goals:

a) it had games I and my kids wanted and enough BC (60GB UK) that I could put PS2 in storage
b) it had BR HD capability
c) it had video/image storage / streaming to HD TV which my wife wanted

At the time I considered PS3 vs 360 and due to RROD, only really teen/adult games on 360 (and the games that interested me I knew I'd get on PC instead anyway) and lack of BR/HD DVD commitment (addons and extra bits were a no no for me) I got a PS3.

Now there is zero reason for me to consider one. The only games on 360 I was interested in (GoW, Mass Effect and Bioshock) are all on (or so to be) on PC so I can get them on my PC, and I don't see this changing as the 360 isn't going to suddenly sprout extra specs and pass my PC.

I will get a Wii later this year however (wife and kids and I'm sure I'll enjoy it too) however with PS3 / PC combination and BR winning format war 360 (despite price) does not have enough going for it from my point of view. Also my wife won't allow more than one console / unit per TV so its right out of luck anyway as what she says goes!

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Wii owner here, and no. The 360's exclusives just don't interest me. However, I'm going to get a PS3 once the price falls and its library gets a little fuller.

Before I got a ps3 I was struggling on deciding which system to get "first". 360 or ps3 but then I kept reading about RROD and said i'll get it later. I'll pick one up when the price is like $250-$300.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned Halo 3. Halo 3 is considered to be one of the best online console games of all time.
I wonder if someone would say yeah buy 360 for Gears of war and Halo 3.

PS3 owner, and no. I have no intention of getting a 360, I am not interested in many of the games that are out or coming out for it exclusively (the biggest being FPS they aren't a favourite of mine) and feel my purchase of a PS3 will cover all my gaming needs. Online having to be paid for yearly for as long as I have it is money I would like to spend elsewhere.

Hmm, pie.

Hmmm i prefer hardware witchout problems (ps3/wii) like rrod and cooling system sounds like vacum cleaner.

Hey just wondering if you own either a Wii and or PS3. Would you consider a 360 console which has a huge library of games and many on the way. Which 360 model would be best to get? Elite or Pro 360 models? I know the non Hard drive Arcade model is quite useless. XBox Live, online gaming with shooters, I heard is good fun with Gears of War and Halo 3, etc.

BTW: This is created in response to the other thread but reverses the scenario.

Why do I feel like this is a trap or sorts?

Regardless, when the summer of 2005 hit, a good friend and I were talking about the upcoming console fight and he was like 'I think the 360 is gonna bring it to the PS fam.' I laughed and really thought the PS3 would win it all, hands down. At the time, it offered the most value (Full BC, HD movie playback) and had the PS brand. However, with the delay, I was really thinking about what he said.

After the 360 launch, I thought about getting one but couldn't find one and really didn't make a real effort to snag one. Until I played COD2. I was blown away. I played other demos, but I was completely sold. I also know GRAW1, Oblivion and a few others were coming out too, so the first one I found, I bought it. That was in March, April of 2006.

I was inches away from buying a PS3 on launch, but just to flip. In the end, I used some wisdom and didn't do it. I am glad I didn't get one back then.

As I stated in the other post, I bought it to review video games - but the newspaper closed, I'm in the PR world now and it gets fired up like never. It's not that I don't like it, but right now, it's a glorified dust magnet. Granted, I have many more 360 games than PS3, but the lack of rumble, the featherweight controller and the Blu Ray experience isn't exciting me one bit. And it seems like every game that I wanted to play on the PS3 has been done or is coming to the 360.

Some folks are scared off by the RROD, which I find laughable seeming most PS2s suffered from Disk Read Errors and the like. I really, really believe deep down folks really, really want to buy a 360, yet keep coming up with reasons to justify their staunch position against the Xbox, Microsoft and the like.

OT - the Arcade is at a fine price point - buy an HD off eBay and you're fine.

I guess people would want a 360 since there are games that it offers.

*Glares*

I'm looking at you Sony......

^Thanks for the contribution Madskillz hopefully that could get people to help the 360 out.
