I will be buying a Switch at some point anyways but not for zelda since ill already of finished my wiiu version and then finished it the 2nd time on my PC in a much higher res then even the Switch version.

So you admit Cemu is responsible for at least one lost sale of a Switch version of Botw ;)

Wut, one lost sale?, even though he owns a copy of it regardless..

How borked does that logic have to be?.

It's only borked if you think that buying a dvd version gives you the right to stream the 4K version for free.
Work was put into making a higher res version, is that work not worth anything?
Apparently it is since donations to Cemu have gone up nearly 300% since they're working on BotW.

Uh no, he's supporting the devs by buying the actual game. You know very well that there isn't a PC version so how is he supposed to play it in 4k, only when Nintendo says so?.

Higher res?, it's not what I would call higher res at all. on a mobile device it's passable, but not on a 1080p screen when docked let alone a 4k tv, which will be the standard soon enough, so that "high res" suddenly becomes SD, laving him the only option of the Emu to actually increase it's qualities.

So he apparently has to buy not only the WIi U version, but also the Switch and even then he's "not allowed" to use the Emu because "lost sale", despite him having already bought the game, you know as logic dictates, one epr person. Where is it the norm for the majority to buy more than one copy for one eprson only?, as far as things go collectors fit that bill, but collectors aren't 7 billion people, they are in much smaller number.

No that's you claiming that 300% and saying it's a factual lost bunch of sales, when in reality you don't have any actual physical proof to show that everyone is equal to a "lost sales", no one can actually do that ebcause to do so would require you to go well and truly out of your way to count heads and ask questions, which is why it's easier and time saving for those people to just utter "because I said so, so there", and expect it to stand without proving anything.

Go ask those people, ask all of them. Ask them if they have also bought the game and then share your arguments with each and every one of them.

Also I bought Zootopia on Blu ray, yet I stream it when I want to. I've tossed in my coin, I buy my Disney merch, bought tons of it over the years and even go to the parks, so if anything I've been supporting Disney more with my money than I have for the odd stream, so don't tell me that "I'm not supporting the company".

That's not a correct analogy. The Cemu team has done the work to be able to play the game in 4k on PC. Not Nintendo. If Nintendo releases the game for PC then absolutely, morally you should be buying this version instead of playing on the emulator. But as long as they haven't done so they also haven't put any work/money in running the game on PC.

It's not me claiming that's a bunch of lost sales, it's me claiming there is interest enough in a higher res version that people are willing to pay for it. But apparently not enough interest to buy a Switch cause 1080p is dirty nowadays. How is he supposed to play it in 4K, lol. The entitlement is strong here.

So yes WiiU version is causing lost sales for the Switch. Perhaps Nintendo will learn for the next time and screw Switch owners out of a last gen version when the next gen hits. Won't happen ofcourse as long as piracy stays low, but that doesn't make it right. Emulation is fine, yet not for brand new games.

Change title, 15-20fps is rubbish. Give it another year.

Seems like accurate emulation of the WiiU to me.

Switch version cant even play it at 1080p. It runs on 900p fyi and thats even in docked mode.

People arent interested in just any higher resolution, they are interested in 4k which is impossible on even the Switch.

Nintendo didnt screw Switch owners for when releasing the game on the WiiU, screwing them would be releasing it on the WiiU only. I highly doubt a "loss" of a sale of the Switch version to the WiiU version is considered a loss for any person who owns a Switch, if it is, you need to set your priorities straight and not worry about a plastic/metal box and just enjoy the damn game on your preferred platform to play it.

Perhaps I'm wording it wrong. Ofcourse Nintendo didn't screw Switch owners, never said that. What I said is that releasing the WiiU version carried a risk for Nintendo because of Cemu. The risk is too small to make a significant impact, yet there are people happy with the WiiU version to play in Cemu. How Switch owners can get screwed is a scenario for next gen, Switch 2 if you like. Consider Swich has a fully working emulator by then which is hugely popular. Perhaps better to only release the next transitional Zelda on Switch 2 only and not on last gen hardware which is no longer 'safe'.

Why aren't developers allowed to lock their software to a specific system? Why don't they have a say in how their work can be enjoyed?

Perhaps you need to check your priorities and enjoy the game the way it was meant to be played instead of worrying about what resolution it's running in.

No, since even if i couldnt play the game on my PC i still would not of got the Switch version again.

First of all when im talking about playing in a higher res then on wiiu im not talking about 720P-900P, as thats not much of a difference to me. And unless the is some new stuff added wouldnt be worth re buying again imo.

I wasn't really serious with that comment hence the ;) but it seems to have stirred the debate...

I was actually planning on double dipping in case I couldn't get the Switch day 1. Although after having played Botw for 170 hours and now helping my kids with certain parts, I don't think I can ever do that kind of time again! The DLC is on my to buy list which is rare for me, and perhaps a remaster next gen like Windwaker on the WiiU.

Anyway enjoy the game, should be running better now after the patch.

This goes both ways. Why shouldn't I play the game the way I enjoy it? I've bought it. I've payed for their work. Have I no rights in this matter?
