I don't think I've posted about this on VGChartz before, so I will start with a brief introduction. I have a long running series of projects where I take NES soundtracks and remix them into 5.1 surround. As you know, the NES only has mono sound, so turning that into 5.1 surround is no small feat. I have spent a great deal of time just creating the tools I need to help facilitate this process. In the process of creating these remixes, I also try to clean up the sound quality as much as possible. This means that each note from each "instrument" is individually filtered with the optimal high pass filter for that pitch. I won't go into the full details of the process right now, but just to put things into perspective, Blaster Master has 16 tracks and I ended up having about 65,000 wave files in my project directory.
Anyway, I have just completed my 6th 5.1 surround remix, which is Blaster Master. I think this is my best one so far. I also made a stereo mix since 5.1 isn't always practical (e.g., when listening on headphones). You can find it on my web site below.
